Did you listen to the song, yes, we know the term is played out, thats why instead of talkin about all black cars, clothes and jewelry, Lupe is talking about our people, our race, “black people”. Lupe is using the term in a different context and has found a more meaningful usasage to the phrase.
Wow this is amazing. I’m definitely picking up Lasers on March 8th. Man just imagine if other rappers rapped about stuff like this. Our kids would get some education via music.
I concur @ BROOK. I love Lupes music it’s art, informational, and educational, and points out a lot of political issues that SOME people do ignore. So I guess when you are speaking or rapping, it’s all poetry, the “truth” then they put you aside or do not give you as much attention or credit for your work. He is awesome and I can not wait to get his album!!!
I enjoy Lupe Fiasco’s demeanor. He is his own individual; the lyrics to his songs are inspiring as well as truthful. Keep it up, Lupe Fiasco. I do not have an album of yours yet but I will purchase one of them as soon as I can. Ever since he debuted I have paid attention.
I always tend to give Lupe Fiasco a listen when I come across his work. I’ve liked him since Food&Liquor.
sad but true though, even if Black people were never kidnapped out of Africa we’d still have slavery because classism existed there too, even without White Supremacy to make it worse. My own realistic cynicism getting in the way of the art.
With that said..I can appreciate his dream. I heard a poem like this too(Suli Breaks). He took race and culture lines, closed his eyes and swirled them around, taking the hate out, till all the people mixed together (and what do all the colors make when combined together? Black of course). Thanks for speaking that dream to me Mr. Fiasco, even if my first impulse is to be cynical.
I like it!
Me too..
ummm….are folks still saying this?

I actually like this track from Lupe! The lyrics are pretty dope, and I’m normally not a big Lupe fan.
