EVENTS: HEART TRUTH FALL 2011 FASHION SHOW IN NYC

(L-R) Singer Natasha Beddingfield, rapper/actress Eve, actress Taraji P. Henson, legend Patti LaBelle, actress Suzanne Somers and former boxer Laila Ali all participated in the Heart Truth Fall 2011 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Thursday night, (February 9) in New York City.

MAG FEATURES: KANYE WEST COVERS VMAN + ARTICLE SNIPPET

Mr. Kanye West suited it up for the cover of VMAN Magazine’s No Risk, No Reward Spring 2011 issue. The 33-year-old rapper was photographed by German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld for the publication’s 21st issue. Rather than doing a typical interview, West stated that he did not want to do one and that he wanted ‘to let the music speak for itself.’ He then submitted a poem created out of his own song lyrics. Here are some of the words:

Some of his words: “Is hip-hop just a euphemism for a new religion? The soul music of the slaves that the youth is missing? But this is more than just my road to redemption, Malcolm West has the whole nation standing at attention. As long as I’m in polo smiling, they think they got me, but they’d try to crack me if they ever see a black me.” [Source]

MUSIC NEWS: RIHANNA ANNOUNCES US TOUR DATES + SLATED TO PERFORM DURING NBA ALL-STAR HALFTIME SHOW

Even the pop starlet Rihanna had low ticket sales and several cancellations for her recent Last Girl On Earth tour, in promotion for her Rated R album, she is about to embark on a United States leg for a new tour to promote her latest effort, Loud.

June 4 / Baltimore, MD / 1st Mariner Arena
June 7 / Toronto, ON / Air Canada Centre
June 28 / Los Angeles, CA / Staples Center
June 30 / Oakland, CA / Oracle Arena
July 19 / Philadelphia, PA / Wells Fargo Center
July 21 / East Rutherford, NJ / Izod Center
July 23 / Uniondale, NY / Nassau Coliseum

These are just preliminary dates to kick off the tour, it was revealed that more will be added. Interestingly enough, it seems as though Rihanna is still planning arenas and large venues. Hopefully, she will have an opening act that will also draw in more seat fillers, considering the demise her last tour suffered.

In related news, look out for the singer during the NBA All-Star Game halftime show on Sunday, February 20th in Los Angeles. She is slated to perform.

TV BIT: MICHELLE OBAMA VISITS TODAY & LIVE WITH REGIS & KELLY

First Lady Michelle Obama celebrated the one-year anniversary of her “Let’s Move” campaign on Wednesday (February 9) by sitting down with Matt Lauer on NBC’s Today and discussing a variety of topics such as childhood obesity, the President’s smoking and a normal life for their daughters, Sasha and Malia.

She then headed over to Live with Regis and Kelly for a lighter chat and informed them she would not be attending Prince William’s wedding later this spring (unless she was invited) and shared what goes down (or doesn’t) in the presidential bedroom. Check out a clip below.
