‘ROUND THE WAY: ARETHA RESPONDS TO FANTASIA’S GRAMMYS BOYCOTT / CHRIS BROWN’S RESTRAINING ORDER HAS BEEN LIFTED

February 24th, 2011

Following the Grammys last week, R&B singer Fantasia Barrino shared that she had been disappointed in the award show for not including her in the Aretha Franklin Tribute performance. The 26 year-old won an award that night, but felt slighted. She shared that she looked up to Franklin as an idol and “should have been on that stage.”

Well Aretha Franklin heard of Barrino’s disappointment and responded quite frankly:

“I was sorry to hear that Fantasia was upset because she did not get the opportunity to participate in my GRAMMY Tribute this year. I recall that in the past, Fantasia participated in both my MusicCares Person of the Year Tribute and my United Negro College Fund Tribute. Fantasia is still young in the business and although we all love and appreciate her she must understand that in this business of show business she will not always get to participate in everything she would like to participate in. I’m sure it was not an intentional omission. I will see Fantasia over the summer here in Detroit.”

Rihanna’s Restraining Order Lifted Against Chris Brown

Finally singer Chris Brown and Rihanna Fenty can go back to their regular life schedules. Brown appeared in an LA court room on Tuesday afternoon in regards to the five year restraining order placed on him by Rihanna. The order was scheduled to expire in 2014, but now after two years of community service and domestic violence sessions, Brown can do his hallelujah, freedom dance. The 21 year-old is no longer restrained from being within 50 yards of Fenty, so long as he does not harass, annoy or molest her.

According to Rihanna’s lawyer, she does not have a problem with the order being lifted.

haha! that’s dope how Aretha made that comment about Fantasia! She was basically saying, “Little girl, if you don’t shut the hell up crying like somebody pinched you in church! I am not worried about you. I’m gonna see you later anyway. Girl hush!” lol! hahaha!

lol, honestly Fantasia would’ve been a helluva lot better than a few the ones who were up there.

Glad to see that Chris is able to move on and leave that crazy Rihanna alone.

The Grammy Awards wanted DIVERSITY!! Florence, Jennifer Hudson, Christina, Yolanda and that other woman come from different genres, Ecclecting/Alternative, R&B, Pop, Gospel, Country! Jennifer Hudson took the R&B spot already and did an amazing job just like the rest of them. Get over it Fantasia, you won a Grammy that night and gonna lead in a movie about Mahalia Jackson, after that terrible year you had, it’s already good! I’m sure some more awardshows will tribute Retha, especially when she gonna die (unfortunataly). And who even interviews Retha?
Rihanna & Chris? I hope nobody will be surprised if these two see each other and start effing again secretly.

    What b*tch?

Fantasia is so damn immature I can’t take her. I for one am glad she wasn’t up on that stage screaming, hollering and sliding around that stage. She’s not the only one who considers Aretha as an idol, yet no one else is bitching and whining. And she missed an opportunity to pick up her first Grammy. Fantasia, girl BYE!

I’m a fan of Fantasia but I’m personally tired of seeing her on everybody’s tribute. She’s not the only one out there with some pipes…I didn’t see the grammys however so can’t comment too tough

Aretha should know ALL about not getting what you want in the business of show business, since she wanted Halle Berry (smh) of all people, to play her in her biopic and SHE (Aretha) didn’t get what she wanted…

I think Fanny wouldve been a better option than J Hud bc damn im tired of seeing and hearing her sing her FAT FREE song in those damn commercial. But Fanny doesnt need to cry about it and boycott shit shes not on that level yet, she needs all the positive shine she can get.

Im excited about chris and rhianna happy that they both can move forward freely and hopefully the public will too……. Next subject plz.

I’m gonnas go out on a limb ad say Aretha kind of needs to check her self, I mean help and lengendery status aside, she is sooooo full of her self and it is just not attractive in an icon. What with the goin off about the grammies reffering to Tina turner as “the queen” her commendeering Halle berry as playing her in her biopic (chile please), with out Halles knowledge, and snorting at the idea of Jennifer huson playing her which is the most plausible pick. Her toothless smiles and index finger claps at the united negro colledge fund program. And now her trying to shut down what would have been the only decent preformer to pay tribute to her in that performance, She needs to humble herself just a taste, just a taste. It is tacky when a celebrity likes to let people know how important they are.

Tell it Aretha!! She’s the Queen and she earned that name for reason, let’s mot forget. At this point in her life she can say whatever the fuk she wants as far as I’m concerned.

Fantasia actin like a spoiled Brat, sit yo @ss down somewhere and get your life together. I like Tasia but she could have kept her reason for not showing to herself that wasn’t professional. Plus she’s performed on behalf of Aretha twice. Just because you stan for her does not mean you have to perform at EVERY fukin event.

Who cares about a CB and this restraining order.

First of if you go back a listen to the 106 park interview that is not what the answer gave, she said the reason she wasn’t there was because she was doing something else and she said that if she would have been there she couldn’t have sit in her chair and not want to jump on stage during the Aretha tribute. I didn’t here her say I boycotted the Grammy or anything like that the media took this and ran the way they wanted. Please listen and get it right, I believe her manger said that she was working on a movie script. I my said think that all the women who were nominated for a grammy that night could have did the tribute after all The Queen was r&b. Yes some way or another music in all area is touch a little by r&b jazz so, I hope one people will support and buy r&b. Fantasia is good music just all the others. And she will learn to not speak on things that people will run with it.

LOL at these comments. Fantasia is a horrible singer. She’s more like a yeller. Aretha’s comment was very sensible.

As far as Chris and Rihanna go, that incident and restraining order was stupid and blow out of proportion to the public. He hasn’t gotten in any trouble since so obviously it was just a one time mistake and he learned his lesson.
