After making a pretty successful comeback, hit singer El Debarge has voluntarily checked himself into rehab. The 49 year-old musician recently came to terms with his twenty-five year drug abuse problems and had been working on cleaning himself up for the sake of his health, career and family. El Debarge also known as Eldra Patrick DeBarge decided to put his career on hold to work on his internal battle with substance abuse. As a result, he has withdrawn from his upcoming comeback tour with singers Ledisi and Kem and will be replaced by R&B singer Musiq Soulchild:
I hate to disappoint my fans but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone. I thank everyone in advance for their prayers and well wishes and hope that you will respect my privacy during this time.
Rev. Al Sharpton Rejects Dancing With The Stars
Civil rights activist and radio talk show host Al Sharpton has declined an offer to join the all-star cast of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars. The 56 year-old minister was an interest of the hit television series back in 2010, but Sharpton refused their offer. When asked about his second pass on joining the dance cast, the activist made it clear that he would be untouchable:
I just turned them down again. I mean, I enjoyed doing Saturday Night Live a few years ago. I did my little James Brown thing, but you have to have your priorities. I’m working very hard on civil rights work and educational stuff. There’s a difference in taking one night during Saturday Night Live and taking weeks during Dancing With the Stars. So I thought about it and I took a pass…Now I’ve got moves now! I’d blow ‘em out! There would be no chance, but I just don’t have the time. [Source]

Dewayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Returns to WWE
On Monday evening, actor Dewayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made a surprise visit to the World Wrestling Entertanment. The 38 year-old stopped by WWE’s ‘Monday Night RAW’ to announce that he will be hosting this year’s annual Wrestlemania event. Johnson had been on the wrestling show a few times since his departure back in 2004. The Rock will be hosting WWE’s WrestleMania XXVII which will take place on Sunday, April 3rd at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Word on the street is that he may be making more appearances on the wrestling entertainment show:

My heart dropped when I heard about El Debarge. I have been rooting for him before he even came back on the scene, when I first discovered he had a problem with addiction. Based on knowing another entertainer that has struggled with drugs to this day and a family member, there will be no judgment here. Entertainer and my uncle both started drugs back in the 80′s. I want to believe they had no idea what they were getting themselves into when first tried that mess. My uncle managed to be clean for 6 years. Started going to church, would speak to congregation at church and then bam one day he through all those years of sobriety away. I hate that crack was ever invented. It has got to be the worst. I’m glad he has now checked into rehab. I had a gut feeling that he was battling within when I saw him on Monique and the Celebration of Gospel on BET and I was hoping I was wrong, but I’m glad that he will be getting some treatment now and my heart go out to him!
My heart too dropped when I read about El…I was in my school library and my jaw just dropped and got a lil tear-eyed as well. I saw El on Monique and couple of other interviews and I was pondering about his appearance as well but just did not want to believe. I love the Debarge family…I think someone on UnSung said it best, “they got some demos in that family that are difficult to shake”. I wish him all in this world and some more of a sucessful recovery. I heard he switched up management recently…I wonder if that issue heightened the situation,smh. So much i want to say…I am true fan but its in God’s hands. Everything happens for a reason. I hope he ‘selflessly’ entered rehab instead of solely entering to avoid more jail or whatever. Ugh, I am so hurt. I really thought he had ish together but its family who are really the ones to pray about. God Bless them for real

Really wanted to see El perform here in Chicago. But I guess over 20 years of addition can really be an overbearing struggle. I wish him a speedy recovery. I guess Rocky is on hiatus between films, so he decides to stop by. It’s not like a return of any sorts, he’ll just host, maybe make a run in in a high profile match, but he’ll vanish once again after that.
