Last month we posted about highly anticipated motion picture Tupac being in the works and asked the CL readers who they think should play the iconic rapper/actor. 
A lot of people left comments and mentioned that they would like to see Anthony Mackie, Darris Love or Tyrese Gibson play the part.
Recently, Morgan Creek Productions and Skee.TV/Karmaloop.TV announced their online casting call for the upcoming movie. The film will be backed by director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Tears of the Sun, Brooklyn’s Finest) and Shakur’s mother, executive producer Afeni Shakur.
The producers are looking for Individuals (including fans) who exemplify Tupac and asking them to upload their video audition on the official website. Entrants are encouraged to check the website often for important announcements and opportunities during the course of the month-long audition.
How is Tyrese even an option? Child, the acting skills are JUST alright and did you all hear that rapping he attempted to do on that double disc of his?
I go with Darris but seeing unknown talent is always nice.

They should cast an unknown. Every star was an ‘unknown’ before they had that one role that shot their star into orbit. It’s good to get new blood into some of our projects. Seeing the same actors over and over again gets lame. Mackie has enough on his plate, as does Tyrese. Give someone else a chance. It might pay-off big time in the end.

i dont know who is going to play 2pac, but all i know is that the movies needs to be a classic. this movie should be on the same level as Malcolm X back in the early 90′s….my only requirment, please dont leave out anything! if the movie has to be 3hrs, so be it (i would actually prefer it be 3hrs). but i cant wait………FYI, as far as those 3 actors, definitely dont want ole boy from the biggie movie, and hell no to tyrese, Darris Love would be the best choice outta the 3.

Darris Love!!! He looks like him, has a raspy voice like tupac, and from what i remember can act alright. I think he could portray Tupac’s body movements, mannerisms and personality best out of the given options.

I think they need to look for new talent. A new fresh faced actor who has studied the craft of acting. Tupac was a good actor in his own right, let’s not forget. So I say….look for new talent.

First of all, Pac was extremeley complex. His story is much more than his music and acting which is a big part but not the only part. His whole upbringing, what Ms. Shakur went through while carrying him defending herself her brothers and sisters on trial. His life needs to be portrayed by someone with great acting skills that can bring him to life on the big screen. It may need to go to some new really good talent. I’m cool with Darris Love if he can act but the acting is the most important part not just the look.

None of these guys should play Pac. There was an actor Merlin Santana who used to remind me of him but he’s passed away too. Think they should find a new actor an established actor wouldn’t be believable as Pac.

Everyone in the industry knows Darrius Love is getting this part! He has been the inside choice for this part for almost ten years. I ran into him having major meetings in Hollywood about this project six months ago way before they even announced the film was going down and he was being coddled by a bunch of rich Jewish cats.
Darrius been waiting for this opportunity forever and check out the second to last MTV music awards or BET music awards show and you will see how many times they show him. He is unknown to everyone except for people in the industry yet they showed him as much as Beyonce DARRIUS is TUPAC

I met the nigga out in LA and was blown away at how much homeboy and Pac are alike and the craziest part of it all is it aint no act.
