He’s back with “God Said”, new music speaking on people hiding their bigotry behind religion and pretending to know things they have no way of knowing, off his upcoming fourth album As Above So Below, which will be released March 22 (pre-order here). The album art below is a modern reworking of da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.

I love the song and the message. Idk how I feel about that intro though. A lot of ppl lost their lives from the earthquake in Haiti. The country is no where near repaired nor was it in a good place before the quake hit. ‘God Said’ for us to spread the ‘good word’. It’s not up to us to judge or denounce.
I agree with you, that was a good and also unique message. Not many singers talk about this in their songs. I am wondering if everyone will get the message or confuse what he is saying and think he is supporting what he is actually criticizing.
I think that he put this intro in there though because someone really said that about Haiti after the earthquake. It was one of those televangelists on the 700 club, I think, that tried to say that the earthquake and all the terrible consequences were the result of Haiti having a pact with the devil in order to defeat colonial imperialists. He probably put this as the intro to make a prime example of how people make their own crazy judgements and try to hide behind God, as if they are as righteous as a prophet.

Yeah the message delivered thru this satirical piece is – The Crazy Jesus freaks and radical Islamic fanatics are bat shit crazy cowards hiding behind the biggest fantasy ever published. If people asked themselves the tough questions and searched for real answers the world would be a better place. Stop the religious nonsense and wake up and live!
Ok. Let’s watch and see what he does when it’s his hometown that gets destroyed by the next big earthquake or natural disaster … or someone near to him gets taken away … or the world gets so dark and depressing that there’s no sign of any hope anywhere. Why does it take DESTRUCTION for people to cry out to God? He is NOT imaginary and this is foolishness. When you see HIM, because He’s not even coming SOON, but RIGHT AWAY, your knee will bow and tongue confess that He is Lord. And you will very very much regret saying or singing things like this.
This is probably why most r&b music does not try to be too conceptual or go too deep with their messages… because the audience is not used to critical thinking.. things like sarcasm, satire, and multiple viewpoints are lost completely on listeners of “ooh baby i love you” and “i just wanna dc you” type music.. r&b can be so much more if people just took the time to be active participants in the music instead of allowing record labels and radio conglomerates spoon feed them recylced garbage intended to capitalize off of miseducated teeny boppers.
wow all i know is that’s its a good song and if they mean other things by it then that’s awful to mock the lord and savior Jesus Christ but i think he’s just trying to get the point out of everyone meaning that they should get more into god before it gets worst and for u people that don’t believe in god I’ll pray for you and i hope u one day see the truth but that’s all i have to say have a wonderful and blessed day
David has a great voice but… Hated it. The problem is the video is attempting to be thought-provoking, but for me it’s just ambiguous and confusing in it’s point… or pro-atheist. JMO but that’s a cowardly approach. Religion is a very serious subject for billions of people.
