Ummm…I don’t think it was that good. It sound like he was straining his voice. It sound like it hurt, but he tried and i’ll give him his props. That song was made for Adele and she killed it. Love her.

  3. Tracy

LOVE IT!!!! That’s one of my fav songs & they are 2 of my fav artists…. they should do a duet very soon!

  4. nicole

Already a huge fan of both Adele and John Legend. love her new album and his voice is just captivating and raw! LOVE THIS!!!

I’ve listened to it twice already. lol

  5. .....!

I didn’t like it, the chorus was horrible.

  6. la-superstar

Great job…..John Legend is a great soul singer….reminiscent of soul singers passed. He is an underrated performer.

  7. Senorita

worth an applause. they need to perform it together.

  8. b-eazy

WOOOOOOWWW! Hated it! LOL! Adele’s vocals floated on that song. John sounded so forced. It hurt my ears during the chorus.

  9. Avb Cole

yeh, i love it… i really love it but i do think adele sang it better… she’s amazing!!!

  10. Howeverrrrrr...

WOW, just wow! I actually like the raw crackle of John’s voice. It’s very CHUUUUUUUURCH! ya know? Reminds me of a Jodeci-sounding accapella.

  11. so what

love this john legend cover and i dont see the hype over adele she sounds just like duffy and amy winehouse :/

  12. Jerry

He does a good job, I like.

  13. KEEM

THIS WAS PRETTY GOOD IM READY FOR HIS NEW ALBUM…..REAL MUSIC CL NEEDS TO START POSTING ABOUT LEDISI WHO HAS AN AMAZING ALBUM COMMING OUT THIS YEAR AND FOLLOW HER ON TWITTE R @LEDISI

  14. DBR

Amy, Duffy, and Adele sound nothing alike. Try listening to their music and performances instead of they’re all from the UK in the last few years. K, ya.

  15. Jamie

This is by far the BEST cover of this song I’ve heard. I love Adele and the original, and I love this cover almost just as much. Job well done Mr. Legend!

  16. Visha

As much as I love John’s voice this song was not meant for him. With Adele she set fire to that song whereas John’s vocals lacked the ease and flow that Adele’s vocals had.

  17. Grace

Love the verses, but I don’t like his version of the chorus as much. As someone else said, her voice soars on the chorus, and it raises the song to the level of amazing. His chorus is not as strong. His voice sounds weaker there.

  18. MUSICISKEY

He can sing. But this song, no!

  19. cam

it was good til he got to the chorus :(
    at least he tried though

  20. ok

I wanted to like it. Not bad, but prefer the original.

  21. Andre

I love the rawness and emotion in this song. Anyone who listens to John Legend knows his voice cracks…but anyway, this song was sang well and I cant wait for Johns CD… :)

  22. Max

This is what real singing sounds like.

  23. truciebedford

Great rendition. Not many other male vocalists in the game that can pull it off and give the same raw feel as she does. Thanks JL!

  24. Scribble

Um this is obviously an acapella rip from a studio session.. They are going to make a remix with John Legend & Adele singing it…

  25. AplMacLady

love it! Love the natural cracks in his voice. Love Adele too!

  26. Alicia

Why did he ruin this GREAT song. It sounds like an old spiritual. I have to now put Adele on repeat to get this travesty out of my head!!!!

John you are WRONG for this……..

    Alicia Love

  27. Tee

I love it! John Legend has one of the best voices of our time.

  28. RonT09

Man…John Legend is simply one talented brotha. That was fire!

  29. caramelapple

He can sing, but it became annoying after a while. Adele can blow, powerful voice.

  30. HWOODOFFICIALonTWITTER

    Adele is a vocal BEAST!

I dig Legend’s version ok.. I luv the backgrounds and harmonies on the B-section.

    Good shxt!

it is an effort worth noting… im just really stuck on the absolute effortless-ness of adele’s orignal; to me the song is just too much hers to be successfully covered by anyone. its just missing that extra strength; the way the original version just grabs hold of you with every element, not just her voice. but i love the more haunting feeling of his take :)

  32. HKS

It’s funny how people really don’t understand singing. John Legends voice and brand is surgical!

He sings better than most artist in the business and is respected by the greats like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones, Al Green, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson etc.

We all should take a step back and see what this brotha has accomplished in 7 years as a professional. 9x Grammy Award Winner, Time 100′s Most Influential People In The World, Countless other prestigious awards. Most haven’t done what he has done in a life time.

Before you leave your unthoughtful comments about a person do your home work.

    Be well

  33. anon

woow…this is really sad. it really is true what people say about unsigned artists being taken advantage of. this version reminds me of one i heard by another british artist called Daniel deBourg. they are very similar, however the only difference is that John Legend’s version isn’t as good. you should check it out and see for yourself on youtube.

  34. Roderick

I like it… I just wish he would have used his background singers as well…

  35. Krystal

This literally gave me chills from the first note!! OMG John is seriously underestimated as a great singer!!

  36. aura

I LOVE it!! I love BOTH VERSIONS!! I love the acapella arrangement. Has my vote for a type of collab for an award show.

  37. Drew

I thought it started off good but the Chorus…. OMFG. You f’d up Adele’s song!

  38. N.O. Finest504

I <3 it!!!! For me, both version work so well! If he performs that here in New Orleans at our Jazz & Heritage Festival, it would be amazing because my city needs a movememnt song for the young folks. And that's what his version sounds like to me, and old spiritual or some sound from a soundtrack. My girl, Adele, version sounds like a lover scorned and it sits well in my spirit too- love her album!

AWESOME – LOVE ADELE AND JOHN – YOU CAN REALLY SANG WHEN YOU ARE BOLD ENOUGH TO DO IT WITHOUT MUSIC
