Last Saturday at around 10pm, shots rang as someone opened fire on a car of 4 to 5 girls, as it pursued the vehicle down Old National Highway in Stone Mountain, Georgia. One of the passengers, Asheley Jewell received a life-threatening gun shot wound to the back of the head.
After it was discovered that Jewell was hit, her girlfriends jumped out of the vehicle in hopes to seek help from nearby homes. The 15 year-old high school sophomore is currently listed in critical condition at Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital.
Detective Melissa Parker of the Fulton County Police disclosed that their investigation leads them to believe that ‘there’s a good possibility that it was road rage.’ They also ‘believe that shots were being fired along the path that they were [being] chased.’
Jewell’s cousin, Ebony Phillips issued the following statement about the impact of this tragic incident as well as her family’s hope of someone stepping forward:
“We deserve to know what happened to her. Why is it that you can’t ride down the street, mind your business, go get food, without getting shot? We believe that God is going to work a miracle in this case. We have to believe that there are decent people out there who care enough about a mother’s pain to step up and do the right thing. That’s all we want that’s all any mother would want.
Asheley, is the daughter of A.J. Jewell (former fiance to “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member, Kandi Burruss) and he passed away as a result of the injuries he sustained from a fight outside of an Atlanta night club back in 2009.
If you have any vital info about the shooter, please do not hesitate to contact the Fulton County Police.
VIDEO: Teen Shot in Possible Road Rage Incident

Too sad..in my prayers
Road rage don’t sound right.
This is so sad! They are def. in my prayers Smh!
R.I.P to her.
that’s just sad.
who would kill someone innocent like that?
She’s in critical condition, not dead yet
Too tragic, praying for her recovery and for the family. SMH
I hope she make it….On another website…they stated that the girl was dead. Hopefully that not true and she makes it through.
So SAD!! What is this world coming to?!!!
This is nothing new. People are shot and killed all the time. SMILE
That’s sooo mess up….
stop saying kill..the girl is not dead she is in critical condition… smh
God did not care enough to prevent the bullet from going in her head.
Please go away..#Godsplans
Dont blame God for this mess. We the ones pulling the trigger and walking around angry all the time. Even the Bible tells you to have nothing to do with an angry man, too many if us are always angry and running around shooting about something.
What is your deal…you may not believe in God, but the devil sure believes and lives in you to say something like that.
This is a cop out. IF You believe Human beings were giving FREE WILL. Stop blaming the devil. I never meet god or the devil. Neither one control by body functions.
this is sad
Black and violence AGAIN! We killing us. Blacks have killed more blacks than slavery and white cops. The most unsafe places for a black person to live is around alot other violent blacks. This is why I stopped walking in my neighborhood because if you got robbed or shot, nobody will tell who did it. We need to pray that we are delivered from this demonic oppression of violence that begats violence. No wonder nobody else wants to be around us, some of us act like barbarians, wild cave people, so embarrassing. We terrorize ourselves.
Wow, I hope she makes it through.
My heart go out to the family.PLEASE STAY STRONG AN BELIEVE GOD MAKE AWAY OUT OF WHT WE BELIEVE IS NOWAY,SHE WILL PULL THREW THIS AND BE STRONG AN HELD.GOD WORK IT OUT PLZ ASAP.I BELIEVE ITS DONE RIGHT NOW N GOD WE PRAY AMEN.
I really hope they find the azzhole who did this! It’s even more horrific that her dad was killed due to a violent act as well. This family has been through enough…Much respect and get well, Ashley!
hope she pulls through. hope it had nothing to do with her dad
My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. I hope she pulls through. I pray for a miracle like Senator Gabby Gifford. GOD be with you, your family and friends.
God did not prevent her from being shot. Ms. Gifford is no more important to this Earth than the other who were killed.
This is really sad…praying for her speedy recovery.
**Old National Hwy is in College Park, GA, not Stone Mountain, GA.
