Singer Mariah Carey celebrated her 41st birthday on Sunday (March 27). During her happy day, the R&B/pop diva began experiencing intense labor contractions and was rushed to the hospital. Upon arrival, her contractions were eventually controlled and she was later sent back home. After arriving home, Mariah was back at it, replying to her adoring fans and tweeting about her experience with #dembabies (in reference to her twin babies):
Mariah went as far as painting her baby bump with “dembabies” written across the top her belly. She even has two band-aids over her tummy. LOL Lawd…Guess she wanted to make the babies a little festive, too…
Actor/singer Tyrese Gibson will be on the cover of JET magazine’s April 4th, 2011 issue, looking polished and professional for the ladies. The 32 year-old author chatted with the publication and talked about everything from music to life. In outtakes of the interview, Gibson explained why he tweets about God so much, why he doesn’t edit himself on Twitter and how he stays motivated and inspired:
On why he doesn’t edit himself on Twitter:
“It’s not something that I purposely do. It’s not coming from a space of rebellion. I just really want people to know some of the things I know. I’ve had people say, ‘I was a big fan of yours, but me loving you just went to a whole other level because of the things that you write and the things that you speak.’ And so, unfortunately this is a town and Hollywood in particular, where people can fall in love with who you appear to be, the surface, right? But then when they get off camera, there’s somebody completely the opposite.”
On how he stays hungry:
“I live my life by these words: ‘You can’t get points today for yesterday’s game.’ You won MVP last week, OK, get over it. It’s like, there’s another level to this thing and people like Will Smith and Denzel and Rev Run and … and like I got a few billion-dollar friends and multi-billion friends … these people have really messed up from showing me this life and lifestyle because I know that there’s a-whole-nother level of playing field out there that I can get to. Now, people get complacent – and I know if you leave this in there, it’s just gonna shake people up – people stop being inspired when they have more than all of their friends. Losing 80 pounds never looked so good! Jennifer Hudson stopped by the AOL Music Sessions studio to record a live session for their site. The 29 year-old singer rocked a figure flattering black top and pink mini-skirt, looking slimmer than ever!
The newfound diva stopped by Late Night with Jay Leno show over the weekend and shared her eating habits and how she can just about eat whatever she wants. When asked how her fiance, David Otunga is taking the new look, Hudson admitted:
“He fusses at me like, ‘Why do you have to have to get all dressed up to go out and why can’t you just go our like you used to?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m a walking billboard now honey! You’re gonna have to sit and wait and if I can’t get dressed, then I’m not going.’”

Former BET star/host Corey “DJ Megatron” McGriff was shot and killed not too far from his Staten Island, New York home on Sunday morning. According to reports, the former Hot 97 DJ was shot to death while walking to a local bodega to purchase a cigar. The 32 year-old was less than a block from his brother’s home and received a gun wound to the torso. Sadly, Megatron died on the street with “his eyes facing the sky and a baseball cap at his side.”
Detectives probed the crime scene, but were unable to find any solid evidence or eye witnesses. No arrests were made. McGriff’s loved ones say he had no known enemies. However, it has been discovered that a “former friend repeatedly slammed the popular, young BET star in an online forum.” Three months ago, someone left messages on the DJ’s Youtube videos saying:
“I told u all u had to do was pay the f—–g bill. I tried to help u out but u wanna play me, right? Bite the hands that feed u, right Mega?
“Bad s— will continue happening to u, Dude!” [Source]
The NYPD hasn’t decided whether McGriff was a targeted victim or a victim of a robbery. DJ Megatron is survived by his 3 children. Our condolences to his family and friends.
