In an interview with Boom Box, R&B singer GINUWINE shared his thoughts about singer Aaliyah Haughton, who tragically died in 2001. When asked what he thought about how her career would have been today, he stated that Beyoncé is the closest resemblance of how successful Aaliyah would have been:
“Aaliyah was in a class by herself. If you’re talking triple threat of a writer, singer and actress, that would probably be Beyonce. If Aaliyah were still here, she and Beyoncé would be neck and neck.”
Although other artists like Ciara have been compared to the late singer, Ginuwine made it clear that there’s nothing wrong with it and added:
“I think everyone should aspire to be someone great, and that was one of the greats. Aaliyah was one of the great ones.”
Tank would probably be in agreement with Ginuwine. We recently sat down with the singer/songwriter who worked closely with Aaliyah on her last two albums and he spoke candidly about her and her influence. Make sure to peep the video above.

But keep in mind, Beyonce won her grammys during a time when there really wasnt any other female R&B artist to battle with except for Alicia Keys who is also a talented artist whos won multiple grammys. And also, Rihanna really cant sing and is in the auto tune era and makes hits because of sexual lyrics. Aaliyah’s singing style was much different, and had more of a jazzy feel. and when she was booed off it was at a time when she was still trying to grow vocally.

and tell the WHOLE story dummy. Aaliyah was booed because of a soundcheck problem and she wasn’t able to properly hear herself in the correct key. So what happened was that she told the sound crew to turn off the music so that she sung the song acapella style. and then the boo’s turned to cheers. Sit down half brained retard
I was introduced to Aaliyah at around the time of her death like at age four, and i was too young to understand what was going on at the time in the industry to say who would be more successful. But although i grew up with Bey’s music and honestly i enjoy Aaliyah more. To me, she has more of a connection with fans and her music has like a reality feel too it that we can relate to. I feel it isnt right to even compare the artist cause first, their music is much different. Beyonce is more of an artist to have like these party jams and songs to blasts on the radio perse, when there is Aaliyah who is more of a laid back and lounge type of artist. and the two artist rose to fame in two different times and when music was much different. Second, none of us has no clue who would be more successful. Only God knows what is in stored for the future. So to me, this debate is pointless. They are two different artist that has two different styles. Thats all i have to say, RIP Aaliyah Dana Haughton

Ok, everyone is saying that Aaliyah was such a sweet person and how wonderful she was, but the question is, do you really know who she was behind closed doors. Yes, she made great music, but then again, she has gotten where she was because her uncle was married to legendary soul singer Gladys Knight. She was pretty much born with a silver spoon in her mouth if you ask me. Aaliyah already had inside connections in the music industry, that’s why opportunities probably came so easy to her at such a young age. All of the singing, dancing and acting she did, don’t forget that she was TRAINED to do all of those things. I’m not being a hater, I’m just stating the facts where they need to be stated. Lastly, the day of her death, Aaliyah was warned that the plane was to small to carry all of her luggage as well as her dancers luggage, but story has it was that she said that “her and her luggage” needed to go. So please people stop acting as if Aaliyah was the second coming of Christ in the music world, if didn’t know shit about her.
I love Aaliyah’s music, and I don’t know why niggas is comparing and shit but anyway, Aaliyah would have made it big if she hadn’t died so young. Now let’s talk about how she got started. This is the exact type of thing I can’t stand! Aaliyah and Beyonce were good friends and Beyonce was in tears at the Soul Train Music Awards after Aaliyah passed, when her and Destiny’s Child performed the song ‘Emotions’ dedicated to Aaliyah’s honor. People are always trying to put Aaliyah and Beyonce against each other, I think that they would be doing some songs and videos TOGETHER, instead of competing. For Ginuwine to even say that just makes me question him right now.

no i think Missy Elliot and left eye would be neck and neck, but ciera had the biggest resemblance to Aaliyah. she can move like Aaliyah,sing like Aaliyah, and roll like her.both of them are and were flexible.so ceira would be closest to Aaliyah. i mean how many people do you know can dance on there ankles like ceira. but a also think Janet Jackson and Aaliyah would be neck and neck also. Janet Jackson can really dance. she has great moves and a great voice. but not has flexible. she also had the edge of being Micheal jacksons sister.
