In a way I agree with you, but remember Mike songs had substance. A 30 year old woman saying she is a girl that runs the world, but then in the same sentence talks about none of these hoes can fade her. No she is making music that goes with the time. I can still listen to Mike because his music is iconic, her not so much!

This song may have to grow on me but what first single from B has been a absolute smash? Maybe just “Crazy In Love” but “Deja Vu” was just ok “Irreplaceable” is what set it off. Then again with If I Were A Boy was just ok then “Single Ladies” was the smash. So I think this is just a warm-up.

Most her songs are crap. I think people like them because they are catch. Deja Vu, Crazy In Love, Singles Ladies all sounded so annoying when I first heard them. Her style is loud, annoying, all over the place, HORRIBLE! With some exceptions-Halo (which took some tome to grow on me), upgrade you, ego, me, myself, and I. Those were good songs. This sounds like amateur stuff but because she is Beyonce, people will love it.

Willow Smith’s 21st Century Girl tops this crap Beyonce put out. She is competing with little willow whose song “Whip My Hair” scared the hell out of her. When Amerie came with that funky type style, she stoled it with B-day. Now she is aiming at Willow with this song now full well it is just a subtle jab at 21st Century Girl. B needs to grow up and make grown folks music instead of music for little girls, but I forgot, POP music are for teens. Soul music is for grown ups. This is why Michael Baisden calls it “Grown Folks” music. Music you can feel, you will never get that from Beyonce.

Her best solo effort was ‘Dangerously in Love’ and even DC’s ‘the writing on the wall’ was better than that. I’m just not impressed with Beyonce’s albums and her singles are getting predictable. Nonetheless, the song will probably be a hit.

I think what people have to understand is that an album has to have a directed focus…. your first single has to encompass alot… Im sure beyonce knows that this song will be a tuff sell… which is why she invested so much in the video….She has an equation that works….(i respect her for not releasing 2 singles this time (no mainstream filler) she’s removed her safty nets… She taking producting credit for this album and she fired matthew, she’s strayed away from the r&B (which everyone expects)… if she fails this time she’s on her own merit….THerefore i think this album will be killer….. And this song in 1 month will be at the top of the billboard charts…. Beyonce is no longer targeting the r&B audience, her efforts are global…. i give the song 7/10 @ this point….

Substance has always been Beyoncé’s weak point.She was already harshly criticized when songs like Freakum dress, Diva etc. first came out. Being iconic demands a certain consciousness. Everyone can name at least one meaningful, empowering song of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey or Janet Jackson for example.
