QUOTE OF THE DAY: ‘I USED TO BEAT UP KIDS WHO TEASED MY GAY FRIENDS,’ SAYS KOBE

Guess Kobe Bryant is really not trying to pay up this $100,000. During an NBA game last week against the San Antonio Spurs, Bryant threw a fit and outburst, ‘F**king fa**ot!’ on national television and was slapped the hefty fine (VIEW HERE). Most of all, Kobe has been trying to make amends with the gay community since his outburst. In his latest interview with ESPN Radio, the Los Angeles Lakers star tried yet again to save face:

I used to beat up a lot of kids even in high school who used to tease my friends because they were gay, or because they were black, or because they were Jewish, or because they were yellow, or because they were whatever. [...] For people who don’t think my apology is sincere, they don’t know me. This isn’t over for me. I really plan to do more. What I said was ignorant and I really didn’t realize what I was saying.” [Source]

Lawd…Just give it a rest, Kobe…

MOVIE TRAILER: VIOLA DAVIS & OCTAVIA SPENCER STAR IN ‘THE HELP’

Check out the trailer for the upcoming Dreamworks film, ‘The Help‘ via the great site, BlackActors.net. The film opens in theaters everywhere on August 12th and you can read the Synopsis below:

Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, “The Help” stars Emma Stone (“Easy A”) as Skeeter, Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis (“Doubt”) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-facewith the changing times.

How do you feel about Hollywood ALWAYS bringing these types of stories to the big screen?? We need BETTER roles for our black actors/actresses!!

CL TOPIC: CHRISSY OF ‘LOVE & HIP HOP’ PROPOSES TO JIM JONES – WOULD YOU PROPOSE FIRST?

On Monday night’s episode of VH1′s Love & Hip-Hop, (VIEW HERE) the usual drama spewed from the reality TV show. Aspiring rapper Somaya Reece declared war on singer Olivia for snitching on her former manager about his ‘trifflin’ comments about Jim Jones’ girl, Chrissy and as usual Emily B was playing the fence, attempting to play peacemaker out of all the gals in the group.

The part of the show that stood out the most was the nerve-wracking idea running through Chrissy Lampkin‘s mind. After being a longtime girlfriend to former Dipset rapper, Jim Jones, she decided that it was time to get more about their 9 year relationship. Lampkin decided to take it upon herself to invite friends and family to an event where she would make a career announcement when in reality she would propose to her rapper boyfriend. Every thing that society says a man should do when it comes to marriage proposals (i.e. buy an engagement ring, bending down on one knee), Chrissy went against the grain despite the fact she was a woman popping the big question.

In a recent interview with Vibe.com, Lampkin was asked if it was frustrating to propose first. Her response:

“No, because I know what I got myself into. You know, he’s definitely younger than me and to be honest with you, neither one of us is really ready right now to get married, but I wanted to let him know that I love him enough and that’s definitely in my plans. We didn’t’ set a date or anything like that, but I just had to let him know. I do love [him] enough to show that it’s time to grow up and that I’m here for [him].”

Now ladies, if you loved your man, had been his sole girl for years, but had no ring…

Would you mind getting down on one knee?
