Gloria James, mother of NBA star Lebron James, was arrested on early Thursday morning (April 7) after having an altercation with Rockfeller Sorel, a valet employee working at Miami’s Fontainebleau Hotel.
According to a source on the scene, Gloria and some girlfriends came to party at club LIV at the Fontainebleau, where she was being “sweet as pie” during the the night out. When it came time to leave around 5 a.m., a security guard escorted her to the valet area to collect her car. The escort was not because she was behaving badly, the source says, but because it’s a Fontainebleau policy to provide their VIP guests with an escort.
When the 43 year-old went to get into her car, she said she couldn’t find her keys which she was told were in the car…She got angry quickly and swung her bag at the valet person who brought the car.” [Source]
Well Mama James’ aim was off, and after she missed the valet worker, she decided to simply slap his face. Sorel then called the police claiming that he had to seek medical attention following the incident (though this picture of him looks otherwise). According to The Miami Herald, the Miami Beach Police Department, Ms. Gloria was taken into custody and was processed and charged with simple battery and disorderly intoxication. She will likely face a misdemeanor assault charge.
Lebron James issued the following statement after leaving basketball practice earlier today:
“You have to move forward … It is my life and there’s certain things you have to deal with. You try not to let it be a distraction. I have a job to do, still. It’s very sensitive [subject] because it’s your mother. Of course to have an incident, it’s very sensitive. But the people around me are helping me.” [Source]
50 Cent On What DJ Mister Cee Means To Hip-Hop Culture
Following the recent down-low brother bust involving the well-known radio DJ and producer Mister Cee, businessman/rapper/actor 50 Cent put in his two coins and shared his thoughts about Cee’s situation and made sure to note that at the end of the day, despite his personal life, the Hot 97 DJ means a lot to hip-hop culture:
“It’s only entertaining because he means that much to hip-hop culture and his association to it. I recognize Mister Cee as the guy who offered us Biggie, so he means that much to the culture. And a lot of the kids that hear the radio don’t see him the same way. It’s not like there’s gonna be a nightclub that doesn’t call Mister Cee because of the rumor. Who is to judge you when there’s an audience — that is probably one of the strongest audiences, if you look at Lady Gaga’s career — that says that that’s fine? If you say it’s not fine, you’re gonna get attacked. You’re gonna write apology notes.” [Source]
