CL TOPIC: BEYONCE ACCUSED OF COPYING LORELLA CUCCARINI IN BILLBOARD PERFORMANCE – WHAT’S YOUR TAKE?

Following Beyonce’s iconic, long-awaited performance of her lead single, “Who Run The World (Girls),” the 29 year-old has received standing ovations and rave reviews from the media and die hard fans alike (VIEW VIDEO).

What many of you may not know is that a similar performance in front of an interactive video screen was also done by an Italian singer/actress named Lorella Cuccarini back in 2010. In the embedded video below you can see similar and in fact some of the same images and movements incorporated in their performances. Many people are reporting that the same company (@TribeIncDesign) did both performance concepts,, but what do you all think about the similarities?

    • Kyla

@Melb2011 – What is wrong with you? How is this dissing?! Re-read the title of this post and then come back and talk .. they said she is ACCUSED of copying which means other people are saying this. Where in this whole post did you get that CL is dissing her? I re-read this post like 3 times to see if I missed a low blow or something and I got nothing. And who cares anyway? Holyy.

    • Gia

MelB2011, top of the charts? Girls, flopped.

    • LadyBird

      LMAO – yes she did!

  2. B REVOLUTION

the same designer did both performances and many more…. here is his twitter @TribeIncDesign you bitches find anything to bring beyonce down but she is already running shit!

    • STLopinion

OH SHUT UP! Yall beyonce fans are so full of excuses an always wanna be the victim but yet go IN on ppl who have different opnions! im not surprised by this tho beyonce whole solo career have been based around paying homage (no shade very good actually) everything she has done an have song have been sampled an she have been “inspired” to repeat it so no one is bringing her down just stating facts

    • Smh

Stl you are on every post!!! Dam you must be a die hard Stan!!!

    • Bonnie

B Revolution I’m with you on this one.. people don’t understand that when you hire a company to handle creative control over your performance, this is with the understanding that they’re not going to come up with an exact replica of a project they’ve done before. Beyonce is not to blame for these similarities and if you ask me, I think she did WAY better than the first chick that did it.

Everyone in this industry pulls from each other so who cares. Go Bey!

    • She's HOT and you Know IT!!!

lOl @STL… you are EVERYWHERE wow you’re one of them haters that are sad cos they have nothing better to do with their lives they will sit at home and keep tabs on the person they hate rather than going out there and living their lives…. smdh you are a lost cause hun.. Oh and before you start with everybody is entitled to their opinion i will say this…”WE HAVE HEARD WHAT YOUR OPINION IS AND WE DONT CARE NOW LEAVE THESE BEYONCE POSTS AND TAKE YOUR NEGATIVE SELF SOMEWHERE HOPEFULLY TO CHURCH COS THEY’LL TURN IT AROUND THERE” …. peace…. Oh and Dont be saying Beyonce copied the guy who worked with them both is obviously a one trick pony who despite this DELIVERS his one trick and still leaves you wanting more….

  3. Rihanna2011

Beyonce is a copy cat, but to be fair, the same designer did both performances. They also did alot of Asian pop stars backdrop too.

    • Sweetsista

Really with a name like yours R U Serious?

    • MYMILKSHAKEBRINGSIT

lol! U R A PATHETIC RI RI FAN WHO HAS LOST HER OWN IDENTITY SO WHO IS THE COPYCAT …THE WORLD IS FULL OF YOUR KIND SO I WONDER DO YALL HATERS REALLY RUN THE WORLD …SMH CUZ YALL COME OUT IN DROVES TO INSULT SOMEBODY WHO TRIES TO MAKE RESPECTFUL WOMANS MUSIC …BUT WILL LISTEN TO WAKA FLOCKA DEMEANING WOMEN #ALLDAY

    • CBLovesMusic

You Beyonce stans CAN NOT even talk about someone else when you can’t even admit that the performances are similar… Anyway, it states in this article (http://entertainment.gath...articleId=281474979368260) that “A makeup artist presented a video of Cuccarini’s technology-laced show to Beyonce.” Therefore, Beyonce DID see the video and knew that the similarities were there. At the end of the day, the blame falls on Beyonce because she knew the performances were alike… She KILLED the performance and definitely did justice to the original version, but it would’ve been nice for her to give credit where credit was due and to thank Cuccarini for inspiring her at the end of her performance. Beyonce tends to think that she can be “inspired” and replicate someone’s idea just because she is an amazing singer… but that’s not true.

  4. STLopinion

    LMAOOOOOOO! #THATSALL

  5. Mya

How is this stealing when the person did BOTH performances!
    @TribeIncDesign

Thos are 2 different Backgrounds. Beyonce Killed it THE END!

    • TLD

The concept, not the images lol.

    • Jordan

Okay people. Let’s all calm down. Beyonce is going to be at fault because whomever she let take control did not do their research bu it’s really not her fault. All in all it was a great performance by both women.

  6. Rihanna2011

It’s new to us because it hasn’t been introduced to the US. But many Off Broadway shows have done this. I actually been to one a few years ago. This is just another thing the US is catching on too.

  7. Allie

you do realize the same guy did the graphics for both shows right? Lol just a little fyi

  8. Rihanna2011

Beyonce needs to be careful and cautious. As someone on top, people try to bring her down. She is in fault for this. No one to blame but herself.

  9. LeeZett

Its pretty straightforward, really: if the same graphic design company, Tribal Inc, did both videos, the ‘fault’ lies with the company. On first watch, I thought Bey’s graphic accompaniment reminded me of Jay-Z’s On To The Next One video and one of his recent tour graphics… and it turns out, the company has worked with him, too.

Not a huge deal- but yet another way people who LIVE to dislike Beyonce will try to discredit her and belittle her talent. Not hearing it! Good is good is good no matter how you slice it.

    • Rihanna2011

I agree. I may not be a big Beyonce fan but I will not down her for this incident.

    • DaSocial

Im a Bey fan and I’m honestly disappointed, because I gave her so much credit for being “INNOVATIVE”. Regardless if it was done by millions of others, it was to close to being the exact. I think her team, “PR” ppl should have known that this would trigger some backlash. But I still Rock with BEY all day.

    • Lisa

Is it really theft if the same person is responsible for the graphic designs and compilations? It’s probably in poor taste, but theft…I don’t think so. I mean, if two chicks where the same dress designed by the same person is that theft?

    • Lisa

I suppose it depends on the agreement the design company has with each artist. Never-the-less, they are responsible for maintaining the agreements.

    • She's HOT and you Know IT!!!

@ Rihanna2011… stop contradicting yourself… one minute she’s bringing something new to the U.S YIPEE… the next she’s just a copycat who’s to blame for tryna bring in new flavour?… just saying

  10. Aiden

there is no such thing as originality… Things get repetitive! Many artists perform suspended from the air, or from a suspended piano, and or use acrobatics… dancers etc. Are they called out for it? NO! The fact that Beyonce used a similar set up and NAILED it, is the issue…

    • Junior

I agree to most of this. Its more than just Beyonce thats taking tricks from other ppl and incorporating in their shows. Oh well. Thats what success gets you.

    • brown gravy

well stop praisng her so much then she is just an normal singer who payed someone else to create her whole show!she dosent do anything but sit back and take credt!people bust her balls becasue she always says she is behind everything qute “its all me”wen its not!she dosent write songs yet she has sonwriting awards thats what irks people.its like wat is her problem?u aint gotta lie!stop trying to be what your not if u are u are if your not your not!she wants people to think she is untouchable god.ho sit down!

    • HAH

But BROWN GRAVY the problem with your statement is that regardless Beyonce still took the performance and made it her own and KILLED!

And She does write, She doesn’t write all her songs but she has heavy input in how they are crafted thus why her sound and singing style is unique only to beyonce. Even if she doesnt write every lyric she still creates the concept and the themes of her songs which is the basis for ANY song, so she gets credit. Plus she produces and vocal arranges AND its her damn song. She gives credit where due.

  11. Back in time

Omg how unorignal can you be???

  12. rehabkid213

she has consistently stolen from jennifer lopez, shakira, kylie, madonna, bette page, the chilites, that woman from chicago song she stole. the list goes own. beyonce has consistently stole.

just because the same person may’ve done the visual aid doesnt make it acceptable. michael jackson and janet jackson do not duplicate what is out there they were attempting to be innovators and of course they had inspiration.

beyonce is a basic unoriginal act with a great knack for dancing on command and singing well.

    • Giovanni Dayevid

Agreed! I would say that she is a perfectionist of other music and part pieces that are already there, but as far as her own lane, or her being an “Icon” as people have said. . .nahh you have to find your own lane, and then create your own style and then BOOM! She is still growing though. . . so hopefully she will step her game up sometime soon. ^_^

    • Fran B

DON’T 4GET jazmine sullivan, the movie metropolis, oh yeah her own sister solange.

  13. Giovanni Dayevid

Beyonc has always been a swagger jacker. . . I thought that we had all become aware and accustomed to such behavior. . . ^_^

  14. En Route

She was great but DAMN!!! Here I go thinking she was being original…DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!

  15. Justice

Beyonce this has got 2 stop once n 4 all. I am calling the POLICE!

  16. Junior

Meh……… Definitely similar but i’m not going to accuse her of stealing. She clearly had the same people to do it. People use “epic” and “stealing” so loosely these days. Just like the claim she “stole” Major Lazer song. #liesppltell

  17. Candy

Why o why does she keep doing this. Really use the head God gave you. Be still sit down and think of your own ideas. It is nice to get inspired by people but if this keeps happening she will become a laughingstock.

  18. bld

No when your the start at B is and is supposed to be you never do something like that unless tina turner did it. Now u can have ur screen and all that other stuff cuase no one owns that but them wings and lot more is just tacky and rude.

  19. Frankie

She keeps getting her weave caught in the cookie jar and still she won’t stop. How hard can it be for her team to think up a fly performance or video isn’t this what they are getting paid for.

  20. BRANDON

There is nothing new under the sun, Beyonce killed that performance. the same person who did the graphics for that performance also did Beyonce’s u can ask them their on twitter @TribeIncDesign. They’ve been using this effect on broadway for YEARS (digital screen back drops), Hello has anyone ever seen The Lion King on Broadway, they use the same effect NEITHER one of these ladies are the first or the last to use this effect. To say she stole or copied anything sounds juvenile.

  21. F.Monroe

They couldn’t just let Beyonce be great. It’s obviously she used the services of the same creative director. Who actually isn’t really creative if he gave B the same darn show. She still killed it! But Beyonce is a Virgo, she’s pissed right now! She shouldn’t be though.

  22. Shawn101

I understand that the same person did this for both Beyonce and Lorella. So, technically, Beyonce didn’t steal from Lorella. However, this does prove that the intro was not an “original”, “something new” or “epic” on Beyonce’s part if it’s been done before. There’s nothing wrong with being inspired by another artist, but don’t do “exactly” what they do, step by step. Beyonce needs to take a little from one artist, take a little from another artist and then put her own spin on things and that will make it an original! When you follow someone word for word, or step by step, how is that original? That’s why people keep accusing her of “stealing”.

    • Mya

Nothing is NEW something always been done before. Thanks to Beyonce you know what digital screen back drop is. The Performance was EPIC and will go down as one of the Best.

I.E Michael Jackson Motown 25 moonwalk epic Performance but the moonwalk was done way before but did the world know about it? No does that take away that performance was still EPIC? No

    • Shawn101

You’re right, Michael wasn’t the first to do the Moonwalk. He actually learned it from Jeffrey Daniel from the group, “Shalamar”. Jeffrey was a pop locking dancer. Therefore, Michael just took “ONLY” the moonwalk. That’s it. Nothing else. Was Michael’s whole routine of dancing just pop locking? No, it wasn’t. He had a little bit of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, James Brown as well as dance steps from the movie, “West Side Story”. And then on top of that, he added his own steps to give it “originality”. So, you see elements of other artists in Michael’s dancing, but does it look like he’s copying them step by step? No. That’s the difference between someone who strives for originality and one who doesn’t.

    • Shawn101

Even Janet was inspired by Michael too. But, does she dance “exactly” like him? No. She has her own style of dancing, while still being inspired by her brother. The same goes for Prince. He has a little bit of James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Liberace and god knows who else up in his routine. But, he’s still Prince. I have nothing against Beyonce drawing inspiration from other artists. I just don’t want her to be a “carbon copy” of others. As I’ve said before, use a little from this person and use a little from another person, then add what makes you “Beyonce” to the mix, and she’ll be good to go.

    • Mya

Are you for real about Michael Jackson only took the “MOONWALK” you need read up on Jame Brown, Elvis Fred Astaire and more. Nothing is new under the sun sorry to break it to you

    • Mya

Does that girl in the video move like Beyonce do her background looks juts like Beyonce? No so Beyonce added her own moves to make it her “originality”. That works both ways hun

    • Shawn101

We all know that if this were any other artist who has done this, they would have been crucified for this. But, because it’s Beyonce, all of a sudden everyone is saying, “There’s nothing new under the sun”. Oh, and by the way hun, those moves that she does in the beginning weren’t “her” moves either. She got that entire dance routine from Tofo Tofo. From beginning to end. If you’re not sure who they are, check it out on YouTube. I’m not trying to put Beyonce down. I just don’t appreciate how people can say things like for example, “Oh, Usher and Chris Brown are copying Michael Jackson.” Or, “Ciara and Britney Spears are copying Janet Jackson.” Yet, when Beyonce has been put on blast for copying, all of a sudden it’s, “Nothing is new under the sun.” So basically, she gets a pass. How come you guys don’t say that about other artists as well?

    • Dimples

Good point Mya….cuz the guy from Shalamaar was the first to introduce the infamous ” moonwalk” to us and he even taught MJ how to do it and MJ mastered it…..

  23. Dre

When you hire a company to do graphics like that you usually look at past work that they have done. I find it hard to beleive that she did not this other performers work prior to signing off on the work the company had done.

When you are a celebrity of her caliber, you always do your research, so i don’t believe that she had not seen this work before.

    So don’t blame the company.

    • leighton

I AGREE like 200%. I mean she is a superstar, she knew she would be congratulated by Barbara Streisand, even Michelle Obama. She should have looked for any simiraties somewhere. Because this is not the first time, people accused her of copying someone.
The song is not from her, the choreopraphy is not from, even the design?

    • Mya

The song is from her that track is a sample which gave and did Beyonce’s song so what it that stealing again?

So did Whitney Houston steal “I Will Always Love You” since is a Dolly Parton song?

    • Shawn101

There’s a difference between Whitney Houston using Dolly Parton’s song and Beyonce sampling Major Lazer’s track and I’ll tell you why: Whitney just remade “I Will Always Love You”. She didn’t go around saying, “I want to create a “NEW” genre of music.” Emphasis on the word, “new”. Remaking a song is totally different than creating something totally “new”. Therefore, if that was Beyonce’s aim, there should have been sampling of no kind. Period. How is that creating a “new” genre of sound when you’re basically using someone else’s beat? Where’s the originality? If she wanted to be original, she could have invested in using “real musical instruments” which is something that the industry rarely uses these days and write some lyrics with substance. She has talent and she’s so much better than what she’s putting out right now. SMH.

  24. Anonymous

So I guess Michael Jackson and Prince stole from James Brown. I say imitation is the greatest form of compliment/flattery. They didn’t steal from him and Beyonce didn’t steal from anybody else. There is no new thing under the sun. She just took it to the next level! Oh and I am not a stan, I have never bought nor supported any of Beyonce’s music, just tired of the apparent attempts to tear her down when she is one of the hardest working people in the business. I guess it is still true that in America we only build you up to tear you down!

    • DonJuan

HUH?? Michael Jackson was 5 years old imitating a 27 year old soul superstar. Beyonce imitated (stole) something someone did LAST year. How can you compare the two? Why is it hate when someone who is “labeled” iconic is called out for being unoriginal and copycat? Why do you people keep FORCING this icon / legend bullsh*t. If it’s meant to be then it will be.

For the record, how can you win a Millenium award when there are 989 years left in the damn millenium? I admire her public relations machine….

    • Anonymous

@donjuan…hmm I don’t see the word hate, I don’t see the word icon, I don’t see the word legend, I don’t see anything that indicates the person was trying to force Beyonce on anyone, and as for the question you asked you will have to ask that to the people who created and give out the award. I don’t think people respond so passionately about “nobodies”, so apparently in somebody’s eyes she is an icon/legend. lol Got valium!

  25. KARIN

Ya’ll tripping. Let’s fault her for swagga jacking African moves by having those 2 African dancers help her incorporate those very well known in Southern Africa dances into her routine.

How dare she! I mean, the nerve of her asking that designer to bring his well known brand into her performance!

I mean, that is not why she hired him! Same reason why you don’t hire DREAM, Pharell or Timbo to do a track for you as an artist. You don’t want them to bring that DREAM, PHARELL, TIMBO sound to your project lest they accuse you of swagga jacking. You want them to create something completely different from their brand sound or image.

You guys are tripping hard on a MAJOR BIATCH. Why ya’ll think her team hired dude…

Keep it moving and worry about how you gon’ pay your rent next month instead of worrying about HEAVILY PAID singers and HEAVILY PAID designers.

  26. EDOTHIMHOT

SO….HAS SHE CREATING ANYTHING? She’s so unoriginal.

  27. Heemi

    This is nothing new.

  28. BadGirl23

When ISN’T she copying and the ish be so obvious. lol

  29. Mya

Are you ppl blind or is it me those are to DIFFRENT graphics its just the same technology

    • Dre

Now you second guessing yourself. People kill me wanting to jump on others because they don’t feel the same way you do. I think she is very talented but damn she didn’t invent music.

  30. Dada

this is sad and funny how people just waste their time on beyonce on how she perform, dance, copy other people stuff at the end of the days she don’t give a rat ass how any of you think or feel. coping other people is what got her where she is so what makes you think she’s ever gonna stop doing what she do regardless of how we feel so people stop wasting your time on beyonce she’s a billionaire try to get your!

  31. Tyshira

PEOPLE ARE SO FUCKING DUMB ! THEY USED THE SAME PERSON FOR THE GRAPHICS BUT THEY WERE STILL DIFFERENT AND NOT EXACTLY THE SAME ! ALL OF THE CELEBS WEAR RED BOTTOMS RIGHT ? THEY’RE MADE BY THE SAME PERSON BUT THEY MAKE DIFFERENT ONES DICKHEADSSSS ! BEYONCE IS THE QUEEN & EVERYONE REALIZES IT EXCEPT THE FUCKING HATERS BECAUSE THEY WANT THEIR FAVS TO BE THE QUEEN . SUCK A D!CK AND DIE !

  32. getgot

SMH….LOL….u know what im so over it. Beyonce is a lost cause throughout her entire career. I have nothing else to say about her after this. She is never gonna reach superstar status regardless if i comment or any other average everyday person comments something good or bad. Im not watching or listening to anything else she brings to the table. Ive given her a chance to bring something hawt or original to the scene and its like beating a dead horse with a stick. Her talent just stays dead with no improvement.

    • Mya

She’s Already have just ask Billboard, Grammys the over 200 awards the over 135 million records she’s sold or ask the 600 million that viewe Single Ladies making it the Most Viewed Female Video in History or ask the 700 million gross in films with only 6 under her name 2 more huge hit she can hit billion

    • thatbeezy

she over hypes herself so much and for what?just face it your mediocre at best and your songs suck!sine when do u have to let a song grow on u or wait til the video?that means its crap her looks got her where she s today.se is a good singer and good performer.most of the credit is due to the companies who basically put her shows together she dosent do anything yet she suppose to e a legend?ho please.

    • Mya

Just face it she’s Been here for 15 years winning LENGEND awards and she will go down as one of the Greatest and that’s why you’re upset lol FACTS are FACTS hun not your opinion

    • thatbeezy

she has monopolized the biz and has been doing payola nobody is fooled she is ruthless that all. i dont care how many awards she bought.

    • Lisa

Do yourself a favor and stick to your word.

    • Vaughn

Mya why don’t u just go ahead and eat her out for God’s sake. You have something to say on everyone’s post. You say she could give a rats ass about what everyone thinks. Well honey I’m sure she could care less about you either, doesn’t even know you exist.I’m not hating on Bey at all, her last CD was bananas. It’s just that I come from a generation full of real innovators…….i.e. MJ, JJ,TLC, Aaliyah, Missy,Lil Kim, Jodeci,Biggie, Tupac etc. They all set the bar kinda high for me.So when I see her swagger jack every damn body from Tina Turner to 10 year old Willow Smith, it irks my soul.Granted she is one of the best right now at what she does, but enough is enough.

  33. thatbeezy

she shouldve got the fraud/swagger jacker of the millennium award….stil cant believe a unoriginal cookie cutter pop tart song making celebrity got that anyway.payola!

  34. juAn

Beyonce is a gifted singer and a great performer but has to be the most unoriginal superstar in the history of music. She takes a lil of this and a lil of that from older artists (Tina Turner) and artists that she admires (Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson) along with others and acts like she was the originator. This may be a good look for an up and coming artist, but someone who wants to be remembered as an “icon” should be setting trends, not simply reintroducing them…

  35. dee dee

yeah, she wouldn’t be Beyonce if she couldn’t steal sh!t from other people and put her name on it. this is nothing new for her.

  36. Dre

They are similar but Beyonce took it to another level. I see nothing wrong with incorporating an idea and making it better!

  37. Chel

At the end of the day whether Beyonce did or didn’t copy she’s out there making money so I say who cares let her have her moment. Yes there were similarities but that’s to be expected if your using the SAME graphic company…there is a such thing as inspiration and just like so many other people said before NOTHING is new everything is recycled so why make a big deal about it…

  38. It's good to critique

Signs that shows Beyonce is slowly declining among her fanbase:

    1. She reproduce materials from other musicians who have already touched and made known for. Once example, her billboard awards performance was copied from Lorella Cuccarini.

    2. After Mathew Knowles left her daughter as a manager, Beyonce didnt seem to make wise choices in her work. Run The World (Girls) was not a smart choice to be her official first single for her new album.

    3. Lastly, Beyonces vocal showed that its in a heavly declined because none of the leaked materials proved that she was displaying vocal ability. Given example, Run The World (Girls) and Until End Of The Time only revealed she is singing 2 and 3 keys back and forth. Nothing is challenging except the new sound that shes trying to show us.

  39. Texas GIrl

Even though it sucks she’s not the originator of this graphic concept, if you look at ANY of Beyonce’s live shows and culture yourself about international entertainment, you would know that she always borrows things from abroad. This isn’t an issue if she is interviewed and admits to where she got the idea. BUT if she pulls that stunt she did with Neyo and Irreplaceable on MTV then I might have to rethink how much of a fan of hers I really am… I still think this was hot. CONCRETE LOOP yall stay on it! Lol It hasn’t even been 24 hours yet!

  40. BeyonceForever

Dam leave her alone! Sorry Mother Fuckers always got something to say!!! It was everything and everybody use each other stuff plus both of them was different anyway. Sorry late as people I swear!!! and she rocked it better anyway!!!

  41. LIL MAMA

BIG FUKING DEAL!!!!! BEYONCE WASNT THE FIRST AND WONT BE THE LAST!!! CLEARLY THATS WHERE SHE GOT HER INSPIRATION FROM BUT NEED I REMIND YALL THE WHOLE RIHANNA ORDEAL WITH HER S&M VIDEO!!!!????

  42. ZZZZ

The same media company did both treatments, so how is Beyonce “copying”? Maybe she thought she was getting a unique product. Maybe it’s the fault of the media company trying to sell a darn near carbon copy to a client. Maybe her camp could’ve made sure she was getting something unique. Or *maybe* it’s not the crime of the century- goodness knows how many times “they” have copied us and ran with it. Can you say “rock and roll”??? I’m not even a Beyonce fan, but the way the media builds her up only to tear her down in a passive aggressive is shady.

    • ZZZZ

*in a passive aggressive way is shady

    • THEWRIGHTONE

YOU HIT THENAIL ON THE HEAD!!!! #POW ITS SIMPLE AS THAT!

    • nanasbananas

Nothing is shady about it, good attention or bad attention is still an attention. The more scandalous you are better for you. People will be looking now more at the Billboard performance then they gonna start searching for italian singer and that’s how you get your popularity. Plain clean image is boring for brainwashed masses.

SMFH…..YALL ARE JUST UGHH YALL SAYIN SHE STOLE THIS SHE STOLE THAT BUT QUICKLY TO SAY ANOTHER ARTIST IS TRYING TO BE HER ETC…..WHO EVER SAID B ORIGINATE THIS?….LIKE 2+2=4….COME ON SHE MADE IT HER ON….WHICH OTHER ARTIST WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THIS IDEA…….SHE USE THE SAME COMPANY OK BIIG DEAL I DONT SEE THE BIG BLAH IS ALL ABOUT PRAISE HER FOR TALENT THAT SHE DOES HAVE NOT PETTY SHIT LIKE THIS!!!ALL ARTIST AT ONE POINT HAS TAKEN SOMETHING AND MADE IT THERE OWN…IM NOT SAYIN NO ONE IS A HATER BUT DAMN GIVE THE WOMAN HER DAMN PROPS ON HER TALENT RATHER THAN COMPLAIN BOUT SOME GRAPHICS AND IDEAS….

  44. THEWRIGHTONE

I wouldn’t go to a Lady Gaga Show not expect to see a lil bit of Madonna in her performance….I wouldnt read a Stephen King book and NOT expect to be scared. I wouldn’t go to church and find it shocking that the pastor is preaching from a text I’ve heard before from another pastor. Moral of the story, in an industry where inspiration is the foundation, you’re destined to find a trend which is CLEARLy what this designer has created amongst performers (probably his motive as well).GET OVER IT PEOPLE atist will feed off of each others creative thoughts, concepts and ideas, however it’s up to the artist to make it their own…and Beyonce Knowles did JUST that.
    -THE END

  45. PhoenixLeDiva

All Im gonna say is…. It’s fine to be inspired by someone or something. But to outright use the same idea isnt being original or icon or any other thing.. The blame lies with both the company and Bey. As an artist great care should have been taken to make the presentation her own.. And the company could have helped to create different images.. ie. instead of feather wings it could have been fire or anything peacock feathers. I just thing that the industry uses words like epic and icon very loosely these days.. I will not ever take away from her drive and ability because clearly she does work it..But I dont think she has changed they we look at music as a whole.. Diana was a mega star… Micheal and Janet took music to another level… I just really dont see that with her..

    • Shawn101

Thank you! Finally someone sees what I was saying all of this time. Even though it’s been approved for her to use this concept, it would have helped if she did things differently with it like you said. I agree that everyone is inspired by someone, but not to the point where you’re doing the very same thing as them. Beyonce is a good performer and singer. Which is why I feel that she can do better than just straight copying what someone else has done. That was the point I was trying to make.

  46. I LOVE THIS GAME

BEYONCE IS A COPY RAT ,, SHE’S INTO THAT DOWN SOUTH STEALING STUFF .

BEYONCE LIVE’S THAT GAME IN EVERYTHING !

JACKASS FANS OF THIS RAT , WAKE THE FU#K-UP !!

  47. power485

Not a copy. Clearly, the company was the same so obviously some imaging for each show is similar. To say that Bey may have been inspired by seeing another show is more fair. Anyway, nobody even knew about this Italian chick doing the show until these sites started to post.
And FYI, Erykah Badu did a show that was similar to both shows. Is she a copycat? C’mon and give the chick a break.

    • I LOVE THIS GAME

WHATEVER ,,,BEYONCE IS A COPY RAT .

    • phineinphilly

If I was being honored I would want something made JUST FOR ME, not copied or scraps of someone else’s performance. But then again we’re talking about Beyonce who will put a period at the end of someone else’s song & put her name on it like she wrote it.

    • Jae

No, actually Erykah simply made use of the technolgy, and had the sense and respect for her audience’s intelligence to display a different concept. However, Beyonce, or more than likely her handlers, determined that the majority of her “stans” would be blithely unaware of the fact that the concept she presented had been done before, and gave it a thumbs up.

  48. Lisa

People, nearly every musical “artist” these days sample music from the past…it’s absurd really. So, they all jack, steal…whatever the hell you want to call it. I’m not even defending her. I’m just saying, if you hate her for it hate all of them for it, including Michael and Janet or probably whoever else you hold up as the pillar of originality in music. I don’t care..I still love me some of Michael and Janet’s music.

Really, it’s not a surprise and I still think it was a good performance.

  49. bizzyby

Who the hell cares??? She killed her performance, point, blank period. Go Bey!!!

  50. Damian in Dallas

Nothing new. She has always stole other performers concepts & themes…

  51. Blanco Family

i dont care if its the same designer. i expected beyonce to push the envelope and do something DIFFERENT. and i wanted this to be her iconic performance i wanted Beyonce to have that performance to her name. i rooted for her SO HARD. and it turns out ONCE AGAIN. beyonce stole the idea from someone else. im embarrassed but more embarassed for beyonce. she performed AMAZINGLY. but the concept was stolen.

  52. REALTALK 101

@LISA: You need to get off this blog and go do some research. Michael damn near created video and is the reason minority videos were able to get on MTV. Michael was inspired by many but took their shit to a whole nother stratosphere. Janet followed her brother’s lead with her own twist on it but Beyonce (the biggest money making entertainer last year) straight jacks. Thriller, Billy Jean, BAD, Rock With You, etc were all groundbreakers. This shit Beyonce is doing is straight MJ, Tina Turner and Janet with no twist. Bey is making too much loochie to not hire her own team to come up with something new. Im a huge Bey fan but her career lacks because she tries to write her own songs when she should be going after the best songs possible. Bey may be a better singer than Janet but Janet can run Bey’s ass out of any arena when it comes to hits cause she has far more than Bey will probably ever have.

    • pshh?

artists with the highest form of intelligence do not deal with the “copying” thing because its some pure phuckery and plain dumb! everyone was inspired by ppl, the thing is, beyoncé can do shit better than the ppl who supposedly did it first! if anything, tina turner and mj have their legavies in the right hands and they will never be forgotten, if I was old and some young successful hard person would do extacly what I did three decades agao, I would be highly honored and grateful. If artists cared about originality they would have never existed because no one is original enough.

    • brown gravy

quit playin!there was only one m.j,james brown, tina turner, janet etc they have there own style they were inspired by others but they basically had there own style that changed the game u see janet and u feel like thats janet.wth bey u feel like uuuuuum j-lo mixed with some tina turner with some shakira mixed with wanna be whitney singin and wanna b janet dancing i dont think she really knows who she is or even has an identity.shes a lost soul.

  53. KKC

Concreteloop why do yall ride Bey’s jock and then turn around and post this BS? No artist creates without inspiration! I see many stories posted in this blog in other blogs. Does that make Concreteloop a copy cat?
GOD, people get a life. If you dont like Beyonce then dont listen to her.
Black folks always bringing each other down.

  54. Natalie

Seriously this just shows how many haters she really has in the music industry. This girl did a another great performance at an award show and somebody actually wastes their time to find something similar to that performance and call her a swagger jacker. First of all the whole beginning of the performance including the graphics were totally different. Second of all the company Tribe Designs were the same masterminds behind both of these performances( their on twitter). So how in the world did she copy as far as I see the one thing that was similar was the drums and the army. Otherwise she did it her own way. I still liked that performance no matter how bad who ever that hater was tried to down her.

  55. no comment

Well I didn’t think the performance was “epic” anyway. Overall I think Bey is a good performer at times but she doesn’t move me all like that to the point of me thinking she is the best to ever do it. She doesn’t kill it every time she hits the stage. I don’t like this song so maybe that is why I am not moved thus far this go round with her.

  56. saywhat youwill

You know it’s say that CL or whoever seem to what to find something wrong with the performance of Beyonce’s last night. She did a great performance and people all the time get/take concepts from people all the time so what, give it a rest and stop trying to fine fault in this lady always. Whoever Beyonce decided to use to help her with the graphic’s was the same person/people for the other lady and so what it wasn’t the same just a little similar and it’s ok. When one design was made it wasn’t just one, just like when a pair of shoes was made it wasn’t just one. People really need to get their a** from trying to bring Beyonce down and give her the credit that she is so worthy deserves.

    • Jae

It was, however, a computer generated design that could be changed to desired specifics, and wasn’t or shouldn’t have been mass produced, like a pair of shoes. The negative reaction isn’t because the same company made both backdrops, it’s because the same one was damn near used twice, and someone deemed as being groundbreaking and innovative shouldn’t have let that happen…

  57. SparkD

If Beyonce was an “inspired-by” artist and not a “I-own, I-wrote, I-did, I-created” artist, then she would be respected so much.

Gaga got hell for copying Madonna, but her “I’m-inspired-by-Grace-Bowie-Madonna” mentality is the reason she’s not judged like Beyonce.

You can blame Matthew for that. Look at what he told that producer who was credited for the Stevie Nicks sample on Bootylicious.

Her dad trained her to lie and take credit, and people aren’t as forgiving.

  58. THE TRUTH

There is nothing new under the sun. Beyonce was not first to use computer graphics in a performance. She will not be the last. She make it hee own. Stop hating.

  59. SparkD

When I see it, it makes the performance less epic after seeing such similarities.

BUT, I thought it was inspired by Korean groups, because I see this kind of graphics with Asian artists all the time.

  60. kevin

Everyone forgets that Janet used the same technology for her Feedback video in 2008. Beyonce didn’t seal anything and the performance is what it is…FANTASTIC.
