Originally slated to premiere on Vevo.com on Friday, May 13th, Beyoncé finally premieres the video for her new single, “Run the World (Girls)” on American Idol and later on her official website, BeyonceOnline.com. The track is lifted from her hotly anticipated fourth studio album, titled IV.
The video, directed by Francis Lawrence, was shot over a four day span in the Mojave Desert and Inglewood, California. Knowles worked with eight different choreographers, including Frank Gatson and Sheryl Murakami. She also hired the Mozambican kwaito dance group, Tofo Tofo, who also appears in the video.
Concrete Loop was invited to an exclusive listen session for the new album, IV, which is slated to hit stores and online some time this summer, with a release date of June 28th announced just this evening.

After listening to this song, and seeing this video I’m as convinced ad ever that Britney Spears is still the Queen B. Even though Brit’s had a slew of personal setbacks, her image is not close to what it used to be nor are her dance moves as sleek or energetic ( due mostly I’m sure to heavy medication bc of her mental disabilities-and I’m not making fun, I’m supporting), her album/music is head and shoulders better than Gaga and Bey. Her album is doing well and her singles have performed wonderfully bc they actually sound good. Beyonce has a lovely voice and a great image, so I have no mercy. If Britney can churn out great-sounding dance music and get critical acclaim-what is Beyonce’s excuse?? Run The World has been donkey crap from the jump, and she keeps pushing it. Is she so arrogant that she knows her fans will buy whatever feces she squirts out? Is this a bet between her and Jay to see how whack a single she can make shoot to the top? I’m not in love with her, but she has great talent. Her fans deserve better. This song is such an audio abomination that it’s not even worth talking about the video.

Beyonce looked like a damn fool! Those dance moves were so stupid and lame. The setting of the video was nice but that’s about it. I don’t understand why people are so disappointed with this video or are now seeing that her dancing is wack. She’s had wack videos such as “Check On It,” “Deja Vu,” “Get Me Bodied,” “If I Were a Boy,” “Video Phone,” “Diva,” the list goes on and on. To tell you the truth, this is one of her best videos, and that’s not saying much. It’s time for Beyonce to hang it up, flat screen. Her tricks will no longer work and “Who Run The World” is flopping on the charts.
I’m really sorry I told a few friends that I’m a fan of this video, because I hadn’t noticed the cross at first. That’s definitely what it is. It’s like she’s mocking the belief that Jesus was given all power over this world when He died on the cross, and she flipped that to make her statement that women are in power and run this world. She’s venturing into some really messy and dangerous territory. The fans may not hold her accountable, but the one person and man who really is in control of this world will.

I truly adore Bey. I feel like she is truly talented and works hard in what she does. There isn’t really a song she has made that I can’t really enjoy. However, my personal opinion when I first heard this song is, whoa. I think Bey has done alot of woman/girl empowerment songs with destiny child and during her first few albums. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I’m just surprised that she went this route at this time in her life. She will be 30 this year and me being the same age I just could care less about being a “girl” running the world. Reality is she may run it cause if her fame and fortune, but the only thing I run is my household lol. In corporate world, we have to prove to a man that we are powerful and smart enough to run the “world” without being disrespected in the process. I realize their are younger fans to appeal to, I just hope there are other songs on the album that can relate to the fans that have grown with her. Kelly is doing her thing and I wish them both much success. I can’t understand why people hate on Kelly, she hasn’t nearly much success as a solo artist as Bey, so what’s wrong with Kelly hitting the charts.There’s room in the biz for more than one woman to be on top in the industry.

I just heard “Til the end of time”, maybe her next single. Just as “Run the world”, the beat is hot, sounds like a marching band. If there is a video, it will probably be great with a lot of dancing as she knows how to do it. But, just as “Run the world”, the lyrics are super dumb and very repetitive, that’s the kind of lyrics you would expect from a teenage singer, or Willow Smith.
