Do you remember the artist formerly known as Kevin Michael? Well, he’s back with his new band THEY, a crafty acronym standing for THE YOUTH. Check out the newest addition to their catalog with the track, “FatBack,” a sexy, summertime synth ode to a woman’s rear end, which will appear on THEY’s upcoming EP, tentatively titled THEY are COMING, which will drop just in time for the summer.

The second taste K gives us is “Freak,” a more aggressive Rick James-esque track, a little more straight-forward than his last track, “Areola,” that we posted months ago. Either way, the EP is shaping up to be what THEY describes as “drenched Euro-synth, ’80′s funk and tons of electro love.“ Look for more this summer.

I wondered what happened to this dude. I bought his self-titled album and Liquid Lava Love, Weekend Jumpoff and Love Letter became a few of my faves. I’m glad that he’s back on the scene, that’s if he ever left. I look forward to hearing more of his new stuff.

80s sound I can get with it Do miss the R&B Kevin but his voice is versatile enough to do this kind of music
I do like the music but something about it seems slightly gimmicky. Like trying too hard to be different especially with the choruses. I want to hear more songs to get a better feel of the singer and group/band.
Is it me or does this sound little like something Rahsaan Patterson has done; vocally, at least.

HERE IS MY THING…. WHY CAN’T “THEY” JUST MAKE MUSIC THAT HAS SUBSTANCE TO IT.. A SONG THAT “EVERYBODY” CAN RELATE TO NOT JUST PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT SOMEONE’S BUTT!! SMH… AND PLEASE PRODUCERS TRY AND FIND SOMETHING WITHIN YOURSELF TO CREATE YOUR OWN MUSIC AND STOP SAMPLING OTHER PEOPLE’S WORK! SONG IS NO GOOD TO ME…. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME IF IT HAD WORDS THAT WERE UNIVERSAL IN APPEAL AND IF THE MUSIC WAS LIVE INSTRUMENTATION INSTEAD OF ALL THAT DIGITAL CRAP….. NEXT
