According to sources FOX411, former Road Trip actress, television producer and plus-size model Mia Amber Davis died on Tuesday (May 10) “after experiencing complications from a routine surgery on her knee:”
“The 36-year-old began her career as a producer for the 90s talk show “The Ricki Lake Show,” “Change of Heart” and “Divorce Court.” She was also face of retail company Ashley Stewart for years. But it was her role in the 2000 film “Road Trip as Rhonda, a plus-size woman who seduces geeky character Kyle Edwards, played by actor DJ Qualls, that earned her national fame. Davis, who served as creative editor-at-large for Plus Model Magazine, was often considered to be one of the most successful plus size models working in the industry, modeling for brands like Lane Bryant, Just My Size, Ashley Stewart and Monif C.” [Source]

You never know. My sister had a routine knee procedure but contracted 2 staph infections and a bladder infection. She was off work for 3 months and was on 3000 mg if antibiotics a day. They had a to send a nurse to check her vitals everyday and her medication was pumped via intravenous drip that she had to carry around with her for those two months. We never thought day surgery would result in such a serious condition but it does happen.
Damn! Dying over knees. This is why I wont get surgery unless its a life and death emergency. Otherwise, massage, salves, heating pads, knee brace, local anesthesia, etc will have to do. General Anesthesia isnt a joke. Wow, 36 yo is way too young. So sad.

The woman was 36 NOT 31 and died of complications from surgery where as that OTHER WEBSITE implied heavily that she may have infact died of AIDS, let’s not kid ourselves thats what they implied. I’m so shocked to hear that she passed away at such a young age. When I worked at Meyer Levin middle school in Brooklyn she came and spoke to the kids on career day back in 2009.
I absolutely loved Mia Amber Davis… Her beauty was pure and her confidence was amazing. She will truly be missed. My thoughts & prayers are with her family, friends, and with the entire modeling community…

This is very sad. If she had managed her weight, she would not have needed knee surgery. I’m sure all that weight was putting pressure on her knees for years, hence the need for the surgery.
