we have lost such an amazing artist and talent. However the beautiful thing about art is that the work lives on. Gil Scott is one of the true father’s of hip-hop as he spoke on issuea going on the community without being censored. I hope more artist can use his work as an inspiration to uplift and progress the Black community……”WHO WILL SURVIVE IN AMERICA?” RIP -Gil Scott-Heron

R.I.P Gill Scott Heron he is a legend.

Nobody really cared about the Black struggle like him. He really spoke out about publicly and in his music & lyrics. U rarely find artists like that today who uplift you and discuss the world politics and the injustice going around globally.

    He will truly be missed.

“The Revolution will not be televised” is such an iconic remarkable piece of work and Pop culture…… Tragically he’ll probably be more popular now than when he was alive. It’s always that way with poets, authors, geniuses and what not. RIP.

I am 20 and I love Mr.Gil Scott-Heron.I am so glad that I was exposed to him by my Grandfather.I have been told that I’m supposed to be listening to Rihanna or Beyonce and to that I say a BIG “NO THANKS”….

Mr. Gil made music that is legacy.I can’t even see anyone “learning” anything from Rihanna or what many of her contemporaries have created musically in the event of their demise….

Rest Gil Scott-Heron because you are free now.Good music always make good artists relevant. It is ‘Winter In America”…

RIP — For those of you who were not familiar with Gil Scott Heron, also check out The Last Poets. “Serious spokesmen like Gil Scott-Heron, Gary Byrd, and the Last Poets paved the way for the many socially committed Black [emcees] a decade later.”
