The Don McGlynn award winning film features archival footage of legendary gospel acts such as Mahalia Jackson, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Dixie Hummingbirds, The Staples Singers, The Blind Boys of Alabama and several others. Definitely a must see for aspiring singers and musicians.

Early Tuesday evening, BET’s 106th & Park hosted a 2011 BET Awards Nomination Special where they announced the nominees for this year’s award ceremony. Leading the pack is Chris Brown, who has received 6 nominations: Best Male R&B Artist, Best Collaboration (for which he holds two nominations) Video of the Year, Best Actor and Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice. Lil Wayne comes in second with 5 nods. Kanye West, Rihanna and Drake all come in with 4 nominations each. Actor/funny man Kevin Hart has been chosen to be the host for the popular, televised award show:
“When we asked folks who should host this year’s BET AWARDS online, in the streets, among other celebs and throughout social media, one name came back to us loud and clear: Kevin Hart,” said Stephen Hill, BET’s president of music programming and specials.
“He is blue flame right now and we are looking forward to working with him on the show. His energy, wit and the always fantastic performances will make for yet another must see event—and the ‘Chocolate Droppa’ might even get a verse in the show.”
As far as performances go, Alicia Keys has been confirmed to hit the stage.

After a season full of drama, beefing and wedding proposals (well really only one proposal, but still…) VH1′s Love & Hip Hop will be returning for yet another season! On Monday evening, the Love & Hip Hop cast members (Emily, Chrissy, Olivia and Somaya) reunited for the season’s reunion episode. Chrissy and Somaya somewhat understood where each person was coming from, Olivia and Somaya of course, have yet to squash their beef. Olivia’s manager Rich Dollaz didn’t help their situation much either. Emily B discussed her existing or non-existing relationship with rapper Fabolous. When asked if she has moved on, she remarked:
“I’m not going to continue to acknowledge someone who is not acknowledging me.”
…Glad she’s being more realistic about her situation. Word on the curb is that Season 2 will be back later this year and each episode will be an hour long.
