Tonight, superstar Beyoncé was honored as Billboard’s Artist of the Millennium at this year’s Billboard Awards. A video montage for the 29-year-old was played before her first ever televised performance of her latest single, “Run the World (Girls).” The video featured the likes of First Lady Michelle Obama, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, U2 front man Bono, Stevie Wonder, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, The Dream, sister Solange, and of course, Tina and Mathew Knowles.
This week has been quite a whirlwind when it came to the promotional blitz. Her video has achieved over 13 million views within the first three days, in promotion for her upcoming fourth studio album, 4, which is slated to hit stores June 28th.
After her performance, Beyoncé accepted the award from her mother, and nephew, Daniel “Julez” Smith. She thanked her family, as well as former Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, who were both present. In addition, she also thanked the original members, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson. She also gave a heartfelt mention of her husband, Jay-Z.:
“I’d also like to thank my bestfriend. And I don’t wanna put you on the spot, ’cause I know they’re probably putting the camera in your face right now. But I love me some Jay-Z.”

Beyoncé is the greatest performer of all time. I’ve been saying this for a long time but MJ’s title always has been arguable to me, with all respect due to him. Beyoncé gives me just a lil more and her versatility is incredible! That was one of the best televised performances EVER!

Out of all of the performances clearly Beyonce was the best…u can’t deny it. It’s funny how she put so much effort into that performance when she didn’t have to. Second place would have to be Kesha. I’m not a fan but she kept me entertained. Mary would come in third and would have been further up if it was longer. As a whole the program was awkward and long with a few good spots. I was definitely not impressed by the performance. I actually prefer the video, all of those visual effects got me confused, the dancing was not intense for once, neither was her voice. Plus, the more I hear the lyrics, the more I find them deeply meaningless and childish.

I enjoyed the performance the CGI was very creative. I like the dance moves in the beginning! I thought she gave a heart felt speech! I like how she acknowledge all the destiny child members. I think that was great. It would be so hot if all the member came together and just do another DC album..that will sell through the roof! She derseves her success! I think years from now she will be the one who goes down in history as the next best female performer after Janet if she keep being creative and gets better! Nice job beyonce! Now, I’m waiting on Kelly to give us a hot performance of Motivation. I hope my girls albums do well!

Still not feeling the song at all, her next single- Until The End Of Time, which it was on CL last week, don’t understand why it was removed , it was way way better than this track. I’ve never thought that Beyonce was that great of a performer, she always over sings and just shakes her lace wig and booty, BUT THIS PERFORMANCE WAS AMAZING! This has to seriously be the best performance from Beyonce and one of the best performances of our generation. Those animations were sick and you can tell Beyonce really worked her a– off! Her vocals were strong and on point too. In the music video, she was dancing like a damn fool, but her movements and choreography was changed up a bit at this award show. I loved the idea of all of those background dancers. They and Beyonce looked great.
BTW, her speech was genuine and that was beautiful that she finally mentioned Kelly, Michelle, LeToya and Latavia.
If Beyonce is really smart, get those girls, Letoya, Latavia, Michelle and Kelly – all four of them plus her and do a wicked album!! Which all of them singing. I didn’t liked how those girls got kicked out like that because of Papa Knowles. Also if those girls do an album, it will resolve that whole kicking out of the group foolishness years ago, so this will be a wicked advantage on all of the girls and that album will kill the charts.

I have never been a huge Bey fan… and thats an understatement. However, as my grandma would say, you gotta give someone their flowers while they yet live. Bey’s performance was awesome. Lyrically, its hard to listen to, but the girl is a performer. That BBMA moment made me appreciate her for who she is… a performer. Is she the best wriyer? Nope. Can Sis. Sheila from Mt. Zion Baptist church outsing (scream her)? Probably. But I believe that the best writer alive nor Sis. Sheila could have pulled off that performance last night.
