Today, May 19th would have been Malcolm X’s 86th birthday. The public speaker and human rights activist was gunned down back in 1965 just before giving a speech in Harlem (LINK). In memory of Malcolm, we are posting the POWERFUL ending scene of Spike Lee’s classic 1992 movie starring Denzel Washington and Angela Bassett. Make sure to watch it, even if you’ve seen it already.

Happy Birthday Malcolm X…Rest in Peace
Happy Birthday Malcolm X
I wonder what he would say about the society we live in today. Would he think we were progressing as a nation or regressing?
He was a brave man to fight and die for what he believed in and for the right reasons.
Is that a serious question? Black people today seem to me to have completely lost their way.
Happy birthday Malcolm X! He was an amazing leader and brave until death…
Happy birthday Brother Malcolm! I really appreciate this ConcreteLoop, its a good thing that yall mention important black ppl like this along with those in entertainment. We cannot forget about those that influenced us as a ppl and laid the foundation for what we strive to achieve.
Happy Birthday Malcolm
Why would we want to see that???
Why wouldn’t you want to see it? Don’t you want to see or know what the generation before us went through so we can enjoy the freedoms we have today? Or is watching a video by some rapper who cant relate with girls shaking they ass in the background more interesting and educational???
It’s amazing how this post has only 6 comments and the post of basketball wives, Rihanna’s latest weave, what Beyonce wore in her video or Flavor Flavs new chicken joint has a ton. WAKE THE HELL UP, Black People.
I ‘m sure he and MLK, Jr are rolling in their graves. Our people have become laughable. It’s sad because so many of us striving to be greater than what THEY want us to be.
LOL if you brought up the name Malcolm X they probably wouldn’t even know who he was (not that he was a good person …) They are too busy on the Beyonce post arguing over why her wig is flier than Rihanna’s and why they would put in their vote for her as President lol pathetic
No matter how radical or controversial his ideals were, young men and women today to take a page from him and learn what it is to be a man and a strong, black, and proud people. You cannot deny that this man loved his people and knew how we could be as a people if we joined forces instead of breaking each other down. He was a man in every sense of the word, faults and all. He will and still is missed.
our shining prince. happy birthday, malcolm.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALCOLM…. MAN SO LITTLE COMMENTS ABOUT SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE SO MUCH…SMH PEOPLE…. IF IT WAS DRAMA..THIS BOARD WOULD BE FILLED !!!

Agree with previous comments. Ppl need to get their priorities straight. Happy 86th Brother Malcolm,RIP.
Brother Malcom, I would like to thank you for standing up for a people that have always been considered second class citizens. Words will never describe how grateful some are for your fight and giving a damn. You sacrificed your life to teach and empower us. You and so many before you have left a legacy so powerful we ought to acknowledge and salute you all daily. Happy Birthday!!
P.S. Thank you so much CL for sharing.
This is powerful..as a Black women. I appreciate him (and so many others) becuz I would not be able to achieve what i have so far. Made me cry to see how much our people have suffered.
El Hajj Malik El Shabazz was an exceptional man who stood up to assert, and die for his convictions. I believe that if black america had a man of this caliber today, it will be an entirely different nation. RIP.
Next, Spike Lee and other filmmakers should definitely get on important projects including: (1) Selected writings and speeches of Marcus Garvey (2) Black Wallstreet; an absolute black holocaust in America (3) African revolutions/revolutionaries in the diaspora — Toussaint L’Ouverture (Haiti), Manuel Querino (Brazil), Olaudah Equiano (Nigeria/UK), Antonio Maceo Grajales (Cuba).. etc.
People need to quit bi+ching and learn and build for themselves.
Thanks so much for sharing this…young people need to know their history. It’s sad that it seems black people have given up the fight….we are not there yet! RIP Malcolm X
I really dislike seeing that part because it just showed the ultimate betrayal and how even during that time when Black people seemed to want to come together, there were still Black people who had much rather saw him dead because he spoke the truth. It saddens me because even then, our people just seemed destined to tear one another down when they saw one of our own gain a little power, or what they preceived to be power. He was an amazing man and for them to do that to him before a speech, in front of his little girls and his wife with no remorse smacks of evil. For all he’s done and for all he might’ve done had he not been called home to be with God, I am grateful. Happy Birthday, Malcolm X. Hopefully the young people of today learn that celebrities aren’t the ones to look up to.
