MUSIC VIDEO: CHERI COKE (formerly CHERI DENNIS) – “LET’S GET DOWN”

June 11th, 2011

R&B singer/songwriter Cheri Coke (formerly Cheri Dennis) is back with a new video. She was best known for her stint with Bad Boy records, but now she is doing the independent thing.

Check out her video for “Let’s Get Down” above. Are you feeling it or should she just cut her losses and stay behind the scenes?

She should stay behind the scenes and I am not saying that to be mean. I never liked her sound when she first came out and after watching her new video, I am still not sold.

Cheri looks like she’s been through some things! Even though I like this song I still don’t think she has to sell out like this! I loved her song “I Love You” she needs to stay in that lane! I’m interested to see where she goes from here!

Piercing our dimples? Is that what they’re doing in the streets?

How do you a comeback whispering like Janet Jackson? Stay behind the scenes.

The vintage “Marilyn Monroe” look is cool though

I’ve actually been a Cheri fan since day 1 when she came out with “So Complete” and was on Mase’s album so I am very familiar with her music and what she’s capable of. Unfortunately, any artist that’s been on Bad Boy has to deal with the hardship of possibly never making it mainstream after dealing with Puff. Cheri’s debut was pretty decent, its too bad she’s now referring to herself as “Coke” which is not surprising. I wish her well but the music isn’t the same :(

Wow. Really? As if the cheek piercings weren’t bad enough, the name change really doesn’t do anything for her. Cheri’s “Portrait of Love” days were good – now all I can do is SMH and offer a Hoe Sit Down.

Cheri has been behind the sences way too long…Her time is over due without a doubt. She has been behind Diddys shadow for over a decade now as his artist and as his side chick. Jimmy Cozier her long time friend tried to by her out but lost in a bidding war against Diddy who raised the price on her head…I am not surprised that she changed her name…Diddy knowing him might still have the rights to her CHERI DENNIS and it maybe too costly to buy back. Without her name change(due to a iron clad contract with diddy)she wouldn’t be able to go solo(independent). Cheri is a real talent and her vocals are ridiculous…Her time is long over due…Instead of casting the stone, let her proove herself to us…This is only one video..lets give her a chance at a come back that she was never given in the first place courtesy of Diddy…

    Dimples

Ok, you have dimples, no need to accuentuate them with faux diamonds. I realize its just a video, so I dont’ know if she actually weares them in real life.

Even so, its unnecessary in the vid and I hope that she is not parading around town with that shizz

I’m feeling the song but not the video. The little studs in the cheecks takes away from whatever look she was going for. I knew Diddy was going to jerk her around. Isn’t that what he’s good for?

If Cheri Coke was supposed to be a play on cherry coke … epic fail.

But I wish her the best.

Cheri is definitely fine, talented at singing and writing. I think P-Diddy messed up not promoting her enough and giving her the right enough attention. I fell in love her with “I Love You”. That was the bomb song!! This new one is tight!
    Go Cheri it’s your birthday

I LOVE the song, but I’m not too enthused with the video. I would have like to see her be a little bit more creative with it. I think the song asked for a subtle-type of sexy look and it had a sensitive, innocent sound to it. That was NOT portrayed in the video. It’s not always about selling sex. I think people are over that and prefer to be touched with music.

…then again, that could be just me.
