GUESS WHO was at this year’s Essence Music Festival, signing copies of their latest books? HINT: She was often seen as the personification of Black Beauty back in the 70s…

It’s Bern Nadette Stanis, former cast member of the 1970′s show, Good Times! The 57 year-old actress was at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center-New Orleans, signing copies of her SITUATIONS 101 books on how to manage the every day dilemmas of finance and relationships.

Yes, she is lookin’ great!

Thelma, it that you? she almost beautiful lady.
Pam grier
Yea Pam Grier was the true personification of black beauty in the 70s. Nobody was badder than that woman. This caption is misleading.
She looks amazing! but… Ima need her to get a better wig. Some virgin indian hair or something! that look like pure plastic…. nevertheless, she looks fab
Wow beautiful sister, Thelma you are gorgeous. I might check out your book.
I think instead of getting a “new wig” or “virgin indian hair”, she should just wear her own hair. Her little afro puffs with the edges greased down and a ribbon were (are) cute. Anyway, I guessed it was her because of the mural in the background
Good Times..
There’s nothing wrong with wearing weave/wigs! Her own hair would be fine, there’s nothing wrong with that either, all I’m saying is that IF she or anyone for that matter, decides to wear weave/wigs at least let it be quality and not like she got that at a 19.99 clearance sale…
Right, of course. I wasn’t saying it to denounce all wig wearing. There’s nothing wrong with wearing one’s own hair either though, especially since we’ve seen that she had quite lovely hair back in the day.
For some reason I thought it was pam grier. But do you THELMA!
@ Angela- Is that Miss grown crazy azz Rhoda in your thumbnail pic?
LOL..YESSS
I swear if Rhoda & her mother were black, she would have gotten her azz beat. I just kept on waiting for the azz beating to happen.
Hilarious!!! I thought that was her little demonic behind.
Oops, I thought it was Jackee, lol. Didn’t pay attention to the 70s part, lol.
saw her interview on BET ….. she looks great…
She looks great!
I grew up watching Good Times as a kid in the mid 70′s. When my Family arrived from Grenada I remebered watching the show and wanting to be like her. She or should I say her character had class, beauty, intelligence, ambition, integrity and so much more. Her character Themla was everything a young girl aspired to be. She truly was a role model for me back then. I thank her for building a young girl from the West Indies self esteem and self concept.
I knew it was her I saw her that day.. very nice person
She still got it.
Thelma, every boy’s crush, back in the day. Lookin’ good, mami!
Teeth and skin sistahs! Keep those two and weight tight and you will not crack..
i was thinkin Pam Grier
