interesting how everything now is about a brand first then great material second.. smh… I will continue to say it.. If the music industry keep putting up these “gate keepers” who let all they damn cousins and people that don’t have a fingernail worth of talent, and if these “gate keepers” deliberately stop quality producers, musicians, singers, writers from getting the opportunity to be heard and if these industry people continue to stop the radio from being a platform for new music from new artist then you get what you get. smh now you got to have your own damn following and fan base before you get signed… if that’s the case then why in the heck do you need a record label period? interesting….but i guess that’s karma for being the gatekeepers..now all the “douche bags” are in the top positions (not Jayboone) but you know what mean

I agree. Its very interesting that he said the industry is getting away from building an artist and focusing more on building a brand…Sounds a little backwards to me.

I was thinking the same thing. Branding like a national bank, your favourite auto manufacturer or credit card company. I understand maximizing earning potential but this sounds so empty. You hit the nail right on the head. I love to buy music (collect albums, cds and iTunes) but I don’t as much anymore because of crap like this.

Yeah, I use to intern there. I really learned a lot there.

I am so glad that dark skinned females aren’t getting overlooked as much as they used to. All we used to see in music videos were light skinned females and none that were dark skinned. Nothing at all is wrong with lighter females but I just feel that they need to mix it up instead of having the same thing.

uhm jive who? the defuncted label. lmao. what he needs to do is find a new job along with 99% of jive staff. DEAD

  8. iknowgoodmusic

Did he say ” Intelligent Music?” >>>PLESSS.

At one point he said those three guys were a movement…a movement in what? What is that suppose to mean? It’s like let me make them sound major by using this word. And then he said a guy there was a marketing genius. And that’s what its really all about. A branded package that’s marketed to you, you consume some made up movement and then they keep selling you a way to live, think, and dress. Okay getting a little crazy, lol. but seriously a movement…really? Civil Rights, was a movement…three dudes in a rape group isn’t a movement.

lol i said rape, i meant to say rap, lol wow!
