In the interview Kelly opens up about what it felt like to finally depart from the management of Mathew Knowles and how she grew into her sexuality while working on this album. Peep a snippet below. On whether she felt more appreciated in Europe with her last album:
Kelly Rowland: No, not really. People still compare me to B over there. I said in an interview recently, ‘You know, if you guys would be a little bit more intelligent and ask me about myself we’ll have a much better interview.’ You can’t want a story from me and keep asking me about the past.On whether she felt relieved after deciding to depart from Mathew Knowles’ management:
I did, but I also felt like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?!’ I stayed in the house for two days. I was sad. It was like a funeral. I had to deaden that situation in order to start fresh. That’s a very long time to have the same manager and the same label.
On whether she thought “Motivation” was too racy for her image:
Not at all. Every woman knows what that feels like—hopefully. But everyone doesn’t expect Kelly to sing about it. This is true. But I just loved the song so much. And yes, I can relate to it. Kelly is gorgeous! I love her spirit. I find it awfully suspicious that Concreteloop will review unknown, new artists before a veteran like Kelly Rowland. We all know she needs all the shine she can get!! When 4 came out CL’s review sounded like it was a paid advertisement and now today on July 26th when this much anticipated album comes out, we there’s no mention of the music! I heard snippets of the album on other sites and I find that it lacks substance. Much of it is about how she needs to get have someone have sex with her. I wish this album could have come harder. Motivation got me excited. The rest of the songs just don’t have enough depth to be be a classic. Despite my disappointment, I will get a copy just to support because I love Kelly’s personality, beauty and her voice.

Kelly’s cd is pretty good. I bought it and I loooovvvveee Work It Man/feeling me right now. Every woman need to listen to those songs. I’m not too keen about Miss Rowland doing sexy covers, but I’ll give her a pass since she’s been struggling to come into her own and gain success all of these years. She looks gorgeous though and the wig actually looks nice. “Here I Am” is a solid album. I can see how some people may not be feelin’ it because most of the tracks are trendy and generic instead of classic, but her voice sounds amazing ( she can sAng) and this style of music fits her voice. I can’t stop listening to her Dance tracks on this album. “Each other” is actually unique and the best single on the track. Its so upbeat, funky, sultry, and she showcases her vocals beautifully. I also love Im Dat Chick, Motivation (Rebel Rock Remix), Turn It Up, and Keep It Between Us is amazing. Its such a lovely R&B slow jam and she gives a lot of emotion. She will go far with this album. Its freaking #3 on the Itunes Album charts and has only been out for 1 day!

I really shouldn’t be surprised – this seems to be the theme with most of these female artistes – wearing as little as possible just to get more attention.
