Yes, R&B singer Trey Songz is heading to the big screen. The Atlantic Records recording artist will be starring in yet a 3D remake of the 1974 classic horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre:
[Trey] Songz will play the male lead and the boyfriend of the previously-cast Alexandra Daddario in the Millennium/Nu Image pic, which will be released on October 5, 2012 by Lionsgate. Chainsaw will be Songz’s big screen acting debut — the part allows the budding thespian to be physical, romantic and heroic. [SOURCE]
The 3D film begins filming later this month in Shreveport, Louisiana. The film was written by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan, Kirsten Elms, with John Luessenhop (Takers) directing the project.
I’m glad he’ll be playing one of the lead roles as opposed to just being on the cast. That means hopefully he won’t be killed within the first 10 minutes of the film. (Y’all know how these films do LOL) Congrats to him nonetheless!
Now that Steve Harvey’s Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man is making its way to theater screens, the movie adaptation is finalizing its cast cast members. The newest additions are singer/actor Chris Brown and actress Meagan Good! The two will be joining the likes of Regina King, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union, LaLa Vazquez, Michael Ealy and more! I can’t even front. This may be a pretty good film! What do you all think?
It has been 2 years since comedian/TV personality Mo’Nique made her award-winning performance in the hit movie Precious. Word on the street is that she’s stepping into acting once more and will be starring in an upcoming film called Bumped.
The Stephen Herek-directed and Lizzy Weiss-written film follows “five strangers whose personal lives are both revealed and changed during a long layover at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport”. Mo’Nique will be playing a supporting role in the indie dramedy alongside actress Xenia Siamas and actor Alex Gonzalez. No word on whether the film will be filming soon. [ SOURCE ]

Well after seeing Trey cry acting in his video Your Side of the Bed I hope he gets axed during the beginning credits…
I will admit Trey was very extra in that video. LOL But I hope he stays alive during the whole movie.

They allways do that. They cast a bunch of up comming actors for upcomming films then cast a black musician to star along side the roster of actors. As if it isn’t hard enough to get an jobs for black actors.
I agree, but unfortunately, too many of the people named in the piece are narcissists who only think about their careers. Just like singing is an art form, so is acting. Unfortunately, too many singers are allowed to act simply because of name value. Thus, you will not have any more Gabourey Sidibie’s because these people have to take work from truly qualified actors. (Chris Brown, on top of having severe anger issues that weaker women have given him a pass for, CANNOT ACT). Yeah, I was catty with that last sentence.
I’m happy for all of them. Since when is God in the business of limiting your opportunities? A singer doesn’t have to remain just a singer. It’s been a long history of singers that have acted.

Seeing Trey get the ax won’t be such a bad thing, it would be quite entertaining. What would bug me would be seeing somebody like Kelly Rowland getting killed again, cause that would piss me off. I don’t know how mainstream will feel about Trey being a lead with that pale white girl, I can see the them laughing at his death right now. But they wouldn’t put Chris in a role like that, cause it would destroy his career. Congrats to Monique on her new flick.

Can’t wait for Texas Chainsaw Massacre, wished it would come out this year, I mean its a horror film, I mean, most of the cast will be done filming in a few weeks or a month tops, , so by the end of filming it will probably be two or three characters left to shoot for the movie, and for Trey Songz, this will be his third movie, Congrats Trey!!!!! Chris Brown, this will be his second movie since the incident with Rihanna, glad people are giving him a second chance in life, Congrats to you aswell. Mo’Nique, hope this movie isn’t like Precious, cause personally, I didn’t like you in the movie, or the movie at all. Again, Congrats to Trey, Chris and Mo’Nique.
