MUSIC NEWS: KELLY ROWLAND TALKS NEW ALBUM ALREADY? / AMERIIE TALKS INDEPENDENT LABEL & NEW ALBUM

Despite releasing an album just last month, Kelly Rowland already is in talks about releasing a follow-up to her third studio album, Here I Am.

As not much of a surprised, Kelly will reteam with hitmaker Rico Love, who was responsible for penning her #1 platinum-selling single, “Motivation,” to create “classic, timeless R&B sound” with the former Destiny’s Child starlet. He gives us a little insight into what’s going on with the new project.

“I’m starting Kelly’s new album soon,” reveals Love, exclusively to Rap-Up. “While she’s on tour, I’m gonna be writing records for her new album. We can kinda roll that out and drop her new single in late spring. Excited about that.”

Here I Am debuted at #3 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, and #1 on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, with 77,000 copies sold in the first week. To date, it is Rowland’s highest debuting and charting album in the United States. “Motivation” has spent several weeks topping the charts as well, making it Kelly’s most successful solo single.

“It feels like a long time coming,” says Love.

“I started her album two-and-a-half years ago, so to be able to get here and see as much success as we’ve seen on this record and album so far is amazing. You put in hard work and it pays off. It sounds cliché, but it’s always good to have that success, especially when people doubted it.”

Kelly Rowland will start touring with Chris Brown on his F.A.M.E. tour in September. What do you guys think about Kelly prepping a new album so quickly?

AMERIIE TALKS INDEPENDENT LABEL & NEW ALBUM

Ameriie dug a little deep to talk about her new album, Cymatika, Vol. 1. Judging from what she discussed previously and this new interview, it should be interesting to see what this album is really about.

It was said that her new single, “Firestarter” was slated to hit this summer, but with the season dwindling down and Ameriie hinting that finding producers was challenging, it’s unsure of whether or not we will see this album before the year’s end.

Not to mention she is educated and gorgeous. Thanks for the post CL keep me updated.

Amerie sounds so mature, and I love her spirit, I just hope this “new sound” she is talking about isn’t too far in the deep end. As far as Kelly goes, before she starts working on her new album, she should put out that second single. It is LONG overdue.

  6. **BLANKSTARE**

Amerie keeps moving and that shows she’s in the game because she wants too… not for money nor fame but for the ART & TALENT! I love her

Oh so where are the cocky Kelly Rowland “Motivation” fans now? Yall were so MOTIVATED downgrading Beyoncé that yall forgot to buy Kelly’s album? So it’s out of the top 20 yet after only 4 weeks? Oops! Well at least it’s better than Ciara who was out of the top 100 the second week. -___-
I’ve been telling you dumb people that it was all a deja vu, the same thing happened to Kelly Rowland with “Ms Kelly”. “Like This” went to #1 on the R&B charts and she got an awesome performance at the 2007 BET Awards, she & her record label thought they could ride the success of “Like This” until the wheels fall off, just like they are doing it for “Motivation”. Result? One local #1 single doing well inside of the states only in the R&B charts, a flop album, the following singles are all certified flops! No surprise there. It seems to me that Kelly just does not know what she wants, hence why she had to re-do the whole album, she has absolutely zero artistry and gives you extremely BASIC music. She does not try to change the music industry or even the R&B world, she is just serving y’all average & current music. And now after listenning to “4″, she talks about making a classic & timeless R&B album? GTFOH! I see Beyoncé effortlessly still schooling these industry puppets.

    • dana

Wow all her other singles r certified flops.lmao.I like Kelly but i dont think she should have walked one song.she has to stay consistent.

    • ms nay

I agree 99% percent with you except that was a horrible BET performance of “Like This” however she did do a nice lip synch performance of “Motivation”. I see way Beyonce has so many haters no one can touch her. Haters don’t forget to watch the VH1 awards so you can hear singing and not lip synching.

    • bill symms

I guess Rico is going to try to write songs that sound similar to Motivation. Kelly just lucked up with a good R&B song. The timing was perfect for her, next time it may be different.

    • truthfullyspeaking

GIMAN you just need to STFU and get out of Beyonce’s stank a–! WTF is with you Beyonce stans who hate Kelly?!? Obviously Kelly’s album is not doing well because she’s not promoting it! It’s hard for her to promote while she is doing the X Factor. You have some damn nerve saying that Beyonce is all this and that when that b–ch is always copying off someone else’s work and is not innovative whatsoever! If she’s such a great artist and on top of everything, she would’ve been selling 4 like hot cakes every week like Adele and Gaga! Selling 1 million worldwide aint sh– for someone of her status!

    • DAFINESTGRL

Did somebody justsayin it’s hard for her to promote while she is on x-factor?!!!!!! BAHAHAHAHAHA n I guess it’s hard for other artist to promote multiple things at once as well?!
Her album should come 1st n then the damn show, she knows she can’t sing that’s why she’s probably like “EFF it I tried” but um she FAILED!
But yea her “motivation” time is up and over….at this point she’s just tryna get in where she fits in. GOODBYE

    • giman

      @Truthfully speaking,
I will not shut up because my mouth is closedd, Im using my hands to write dumb b!tch. Nobody is hating on Kelly Rowland, otherwise I would not have bought her three albums. I know the songs from her first two albums by heart. There is a difference bewteen the truth & hating. If there is anybody out there hating, it’s the Kelly fans on Beyoncé, always trying to talk smack at Beyoncé, and that’s the downfall of Kelly cause her fans focus too damn much on putting her on the same pedestal as Beyoncé.
Secondly, stop with the promo excuse, she has been performing “Motivation” here & there, I’ve seen her on TV & internet doing interviews, not even mentionning her personal promo she does on twitter all the damn time! They knew damn well what they were doing, you just dont put out your work without thinking about the right time to promote. So her being there in the UK has nothing to do with her poor sales. Beyoncé copying has nothing to do with everything I said, matter fact, I didnt even mentionned her a lot in my post, yes she is schooling them and will continue to do as she pleases, stay mad or get used to it b!tch!
As for her album not selling, I think you didnt check the stats ho*, cause last time I checked, “4″ had the best reviews among these female artists and is currently in the top 10 both in the UK & US after two months and is one of the highest selling album of the year, on two times platinum worldwide soon. Delusional you are to think that selling one million copies is not a great achievement in these days & age.
Even more delusion from you is to compare Gaga & Adele’s sales to Beyoncé’s, PLEASE! Different artists using different methods & at different periods of their careers! What thye are now are “it” girls & Beyoncé, iconic now, was the “it” girl 8 years ago in 2003 when her first solo album sold 11 million copies! Still relevant enough to be compared to the young acts like Adele & Gaga, two white chicks with mostly their white consumers/fans who actually buy records. When they are going to be relevant after 14 years in the game like Beyoncé is right now, which means in 2023, we gon see if they sell like hot cakes. Now h*e, have a motherphu*kin seat!

  8. MayneTayn

Kelly need to enjoy Here I Am and tour for a bit. But its nothing wrong with being prepared. Amerie looks a bit bright in that vid thumbnail.

Wud up Angel? Peep the email

  9. truthfullyspeaking

I think it’s foolish for Kelly to record an album so quickly. I am sick and tired of the Beyonce stans wanting to see her fail! She, along with the other DC members, weren’t lucky enough to meet the right people and Matthew did nothing but ruin their careers! Freaking 95% of the music artists signed to major labels don’t make it because it’s hard to find the right people. If Universal were smart, they would’ve released Lay It On Me and then “Here I Am” in August!

Amerie, she is very intelligent, but she’s foolish as well. She really thought that LA Reid was going to make her a big star? Def Jam only cares about Rihanna’s untalented a–. They didn’t do jack for Amerie and I really think she’s going to fail again with this album when it’s released on her independent label.

    • Jessica

@truthfullyspeaking: The reason why Kelly is doing another album is because the X-Factor UK took up her promoting time for Here I Am and now she feels it’s too late for her, and it’s sad, I really want her to do well. The joke of these Beyonce stans is that Kelly and Beyonce are from the same group- DESTINY CHILD, lol!!! These youngin’s don’t know anything about music. Your right about the labels now- it’s all about the image not about talent. BEYONCE STAN’S GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER KELLY IS IN THE SAME GROUP AS BEYONCE- FAIL!!! Amerie is smart going to an independant label. 1. She can be creative on her work. 2. She’s already been established, so she’s not a new artist. 3. Look at Teedra Moses, she was on a independant label and she blew up, and her mixtape is doing well. Sometimes being in a independant label then a commercial label is better. Amerie will do well.

    • Jessica

Also, you got to remember, it takes about 1-2 years to produce an album in the studio, the artist have to book it, the artist have to get the writing done, the artist have to get the producers for the beat and the money to get the track done. So it’s alot of work to produce an album, and Kelly feels that if she takes long again she won’t get into the mood, remember her last album Miss Kelly before Here I Am was in 2007, it took her 4 years to release this current album, so right now she has the drive for it, to me she’s smart, she’s hussling. All Kelly needs is the right people to promote her that what she need to research and she will blow up. I’m rooting for her!!

  10. Anne

I think it’s smart for Kelly to be planning the next album because the writing is on the wall when it comes to ‘Here I Am.’ I think she just needs to record better material this time. ‘Motivation’ was a huge hit and I’m sure it brought attention to her album but obvioulsy not enough folks were impressed enough to buy the album. Next time she needs more than just a huge single, she needs to show growth on the album as a whole. I felt she should have had more meaningul, belting ballads on the album and some R&B uptempos, instead of the pop/dance stuff on ‘Here I Am’. I think that’s what a lot of the people who love ‘Motivation’ were looking for.

  11. Oh lord

This is what I hate about Kelly, all of her first singles are great, gets much play, and have hot videos. What happens to the rest of the Album. She doesnt know how to promote, to busy out here taking pics. We havent heard anything since Motivation, oh yea my bad there is Motivation the remix.

  12. Anne

I have been a Beyonce fan for years but I gave Kelly’s album a fair chance. Not all Beyonce fans hate on Kelly it’s just that I can’t make myself like Kelly’s music if I just don’t. Before Kelly’s album was released I read so many comments by Kelly’s fans saying that Karma was finally turning against Beyonce and in Kelly’s favor and it was Kelly’s time to shine and Beyonce’s time to fail and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. This may not be Beyonce’s best era commercially so far, but she made a conscious decision to take a risk and depart from what is expected of her because she has had very successful albums in the past and has earned the right to do so and for a mainly R&B album,’4′ IS still A COMMERCIAL SUCCESS and hanging in there competitively. I think some of Kelly’s fans were to quick to assume that Kelly was going to outshine Beyonce and wanted Beyonce to fail and it didn’t work out that way. I wonder what those bloggers think about karma now.

  13. kickup

sorry to say but Kelly jus does not have an interesting voice and that album was WEAK at best! She needs better material and that voice is cute but she is a backup singer at best….

    • DAFINESTGRL

Thank you! Cuz she is definitely in the group of women who r in the music industry but cannot sing. She can use some vocal lessons REALBAD!

  14. I.D

Cymatika vol.1 is slated to come next year.
It was ALWAYS slated to come out in 2012.
Not because she’s finding hard finding artists/producers to work with for the sound she’s going for.
Next time CL, watch the interview and get your facts straight and stop throwing shade.

  15. independent record label
