It has been over two years (June 25, 2009) since the tragic passing of the iconic entertainer, Michael Jackson. Born on August 29, 1958, Michael Joseph Jackson came into the world with an amazing talent and eventually became the lead singer of a chart-topping, 70s & 80s musical group with his brothers, The Jackson 5 (The Jacksons). Following his time as the lead singer, Michael set out to embark a solo career, where he eventually trail-blazed the music industry, setting records after records with studio albums like Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad and HIStory: Past, Present and Future.

Mike is, definitely, one of a kind. He`s one of those rare jewels that, only, comes along one in a lifetime. And, like a comet, he suddenly vanishes leaving us with only the visual images of his magnificient showmanship from his spellbounding performances and a voice that could tame the most violent storms. I`ve been a fan of Mikes` for more than 3 decades as his ‘Off The Wall’ album was the first album that I ever purchased. So yes, I was around to see Mike at his very early stage, as an adult, into the phase when he first began to peak. The very first time that I saw him perform on television I knew that I was watching someone who was a master at his craft. It was one of those special moments when you felt like you were touched by something divine that is the essence of all of us. To see Mike perform one would get chills and goosebumps as you were captivated by his beautiful symphony that was a visual loveaffair between The Master and The Dance. Mike tamed showmanship like no other. He took you on a ride that would invoke such emotion that it would leave you weightless as a feather as you descended from your emotional high. Whenever you watched Mike perform he would keep you on the edge of your seat as you anticipated his next move. Your eyes remained riveted as you dared not to look away for one mili second. NO artist today possesses this kind of gift that can cast a spell over an entire audience. Mike moved with a PERCISION like NO other that enticed you to behold his majesty. From the time that he was a child he always sought to improve upon his craft and we are the benefactors as we witnessed the epitome of The ULTIMATE performer. This kind of performer is not made, it`s an innate gift that is, as much as, the very essence of the individual. Mikes` rare gift went from his enormous showmanship to his unbelievable gift as a vocalist. With his 4 octave range his voice had a distinct quality that was his, and his alone. It was a voice that contained such versatility that he could do everything from pop, r&b, gospel, jazz, rock, etc. Just consider, his songs, ‘Dirty Diana’, ‘Give In To Me’, ‘D.S.’, ‘Beat It.’ These are all some kick ass rock songs that would get your blood pumping. The EVIL sound of the guitar in ‘Dirty Diana’ and the guitar solo in ‘Beat It’ is second to none. And just consider how the drama builds to a crescendo in ‘Dirty Diana’. The visual of the confrontation with the protaganist in this song as she spins her web in order to seduce him. Then you consider his political annihilation in ‘They Don`t Care About Us’ along with the visual in the vid. Mike possessed a once in a lifetime gift that would enable you to feel his very soul, be it through the visual or way of audio. Michael Joseph Jackson, has indeed left a mark that others can only aspire to but will never reach. His is a star that engulfs its` own galaxy.
Happy Birthday Mike. And your song will forever be heard as you have now returned to The ESSENCE. ALWAYS& FOREVER a fan.
RIP to King MJ and Happy Birthday!
