This is the most I’ve ever seen Jay-Z smile in a video! I can’t remember the last time he smiled and laughed this much. I love seein’ him and Kanye together because they really do care about each other and will do anything for one another. They really seem like they’re brothers. Do we really need another hate type coalition because no token black people were added in the making of this video? Where were you when they featured beautiful black women in their previous videos? Half the time black women are complaining about the glamorization of black models in hip hop videos as accessories. Those girls looked Hispanic or Latin American (which is the largest minority group) to me which would make sense for the Hov line. For the record, it should also be noted that the car featured in that video will be donated towards the East African drought disaster.

The fact that we are talking about black artists making this choice does not elide this point. Jay-Z and Kanye are smart men; they are aware of this move. Given that, how ELSE can we think about their choice not to include “black” models in this video?

They look very happy in this video and I’m proud of them for getting this far in the game but after hearing the whole album and how black power it is I was a little surprised to see no sister’s in the video. I’m not one to care if black men hate black women or not because I have a black man that loves me but it seems like a contradiction. In one song Jay says why does all the pretty icons have to be white Marilyn Monroe is alright but if you ask me she has nothing on Ralona, don’t let me get Thelma or halle, penelope or Selma but back to my Beyonce’s. I am a big Jay Z (& Bee) fan having seen Jay Z up close & personal in concert many times including at Verizon (DC) & Scope (Norfolk,VA) in the last couple yrs, have every album Jay put out, have a copy of Decoded on my desk, etc. (Have also seen Bee in DC, Atlantic City, Vegas, Hampton (VA) & have seen Destiny’s Child many times). And I plan to ck out more of Kanye’s work very soon as I personally feel he is very talented. I salute Jay & Ye for masterminding WTT & its success. But I still stand by my question about the video. I really like the light and refreshing feel of the video; however, I have to agree that black women should have been represented in this video as the models, rather than the caucasian/hispanic women. More so because this was a video in which the women were not presented in a “booty-shaking” manner, therefore, therefore they should have taken that opportunity to represent for the black models.
