While healing up from getting 9 stitches from his skateboarding mishap, Weezy F Baby aka Lil Wayne has dropped the visuals for his latest single “How To Love”. The video was directed by Chris Robinson and definitely carries a positive message about making the right life decisions. Wayne’s album Tha Carter IV finally hits stores on August 29!

Lil Wayne releasing one socially conscious video in the huge library of his work that actually promotes a lifestyle that would lead to an outcome similar to that of the unfortunate character in this video, is like Sara Palin making a single valid point on civil rights, then receiving praise for it.
.
#SpareMe
funny… but true
You’re right of course, but if this single video of this hugely popular song changes the perspective of just a few kids (or parents) then I have to give praise. Who knows, maybe our praise can inspire the little gremlin to do a little more like this. He knows his fans listen to every single word. At some point when he’s no longer inspiring they’ll stop listening. Pac knew that. (Dear Mama, Brenda’s Got a Baby, I Ain’t Mad Atcha)
That’s exactly how I feel. The song is cool but the video still isn’t all that positive to me. Last we see is the girl graduating from what seems to be highschool or beauty school and then she’s pregnant. That doesn’t sit well with me and to me it doesn’t send a positive message. She’s at the doctor getting test results with her mama…not her HUSBAND so it makes me think she’s just another young teen that got knocked up.
@Jason, don’t the benefits of having your child listen to a single motivational or cautionary message from Lil Wayne (as I shudder to the type the word ‘motivational’ and Lil Wayne in the same sentence), get outweighed by the risk of them being lured into idolizing a megastar whose aim in life is to make easy money off unwitting kids by pandering what is literally audio porn to them (amongst all his other regressive lyrics).
.
Big picture. Parents need to take a more active role is shaping their children’s world view, don’t make room for Pac or Wayne- both in and out of jail even with their wealth.
.
The same way Sara Palin holds zero legitimacy in preaching social justice and equality is the same way you should view Lil Wayne trying to ‘teach’ (HA!) your young children.

@Youngzo HA!!! LOL Lil’ Wayne is not teaching, nor inspiring my kids (You crazy?).They dont even know who that little dread head hobbit is (at least not yet). But I tell you this, trying to keep a child away from pop culture is next to impossible. In a lot of circles, its considered social suicide of a sort. While I dont necessarily subscribe to that school of thought, I do believe that it is possible to shield your kids too much (We all knew the girl or guy that went buckwild as soon as they left the nest).
What Im trying to say is that my kids are young right now, but I am not so naive as to think that I will always know everything that they’re listening to, or idolizing. My goal is to educate my girls about the ways of this world (when theyre ready of course), and teach them to see right through the trappings of Lil’ Wayne or whatever pseudo thug that society presents as the next best thing. When I was growing up in my family, we always knew these people were entertainers. Theyre acting. We understood that at a very early age. I cant help but feel that being armed with that knowledge allowed me to grow up in the 90s around the guns and gangs and the gangsta rap and somehow remain above the fray. Rap music and movies to me hold entertainment value and not much more. Its akin to watching Charlie Murphy recount his drug induced adventures with Rick James. If I can teach my girls to sniff out and easily recognize the thinly veiled BS from a mile away theyll be fine. I believe that.
I must admit that I just LIKE the song, but I absolutely LOVE this video. As a man with two daughters and a lovely wife I appreciate Wayne for making a video that shows the importance of family, and the importance of making good decisions now that will directly affect your future. Kudos you ugly little man… Kudos…
I so agree with you!!!
Love the song. For somebody who can’t sing a lick, somehow this song works. Go Wayne! He’s so damn talented with his little ugly self.
Lmao.
o.O Omg
Okay…I like the song and I do and don’t like the video. Everything was all good until when the doctor said the girl was pregnant. Yes, life is beautiful and having a baby is beautiful but I think it still send the wrong message in the end that it’s not okay to go out and sleep around and get HIV but if you get pregnant your cool. Of course, an adult can understand what he’s trying to say but he caters to a younger, more immature fan base that may take that as saying it’s okay to have a baby.
I also have a problem with the fact that Lil Wayne has planted his seed in so many chicks that we really don’t know if he’s HIV positive at this moment or not. I hate having to judge things in this way but it’s the truth. The video is cool but his actions in his everyday life just don’t add up.
Did yall not see the girl got married in the video therefore she is pregnant by her husband>>>>pay attention and stop be so quick to judge….its a good video that shows young ladies that you have choices!!!!
Wow…the video actually made me cry when she was in the doctor’s office the first time. I’m glad Wayne put this video out there, but does he even wear condoms? He should practice what he preaches….at least this time around.
Shut the hell up. Everyone wants to be a mu%&@ critic. You probably have 3 babies with 3 baby daddies. Get over yourself DAMN. Can the man do something positive for a change. Damn if he do, damn if he dont.
No lie… first half of the video was a tear jerker! Had to man up! I’m confused a bit on the last half though… someone help me out.
Basically he’saying “Without “learning how to love” you may become a stripper/part-time whore who will become infected with HIV by Slash from Guns’n'Roses, but with just a little of your mother’s love and support at the right moment in your life you can be set on a straight and narrow path of becoming the next superstar beautician and future baby mama.” Is this correct?
SN: Doesn’t Wayne look like the “smart” Gremlin from Gremlin’s 2… in the still picture?
loooooooooooooooooooooooooool you’ve made my day this post was actually hilarious but I get what you’re saying, the message is a little shaky.
Eeeeediiiottt!!!!
I’ve always loved this song, but looking at the video and seeing what message it gives I love it even more.
this is probably one of the worst song’s he’s ever released, right behind Prom Queen… Lil Wayne is done out here in 2011..sit him behind the desk wit Birdman please.
Great Video.. I got alittle choked up. We need more video likes this.. It has a strong message behind it. Good one Wayne
I love this song, the video is just alright – he definitely could’ve done without the ending.
okay people im only gonna say this once!!… teach your children the right way and it won’t matter what lil wayne is saying in his songs or videos!!!!
Ok I really like the song, musicly he is a genius. However the video kind of rubbed me the wrong way. The ending wasn’t really a good ending, I mean its good for some hood sh it. But on the low it’s kind of wake, they should’ve had her husband in the waiting room. Not just another teen mom, n I mean dang y does she have 2 do hair. But 4 real the single mom is not a good look
I actually like the video I think it still sends a positive message in that she actually graduated from somewhere and can get a legit career to support her child. most females these days don’t even make it through high school before having a child.
I’m Sure Wayne Is The Girl’s, Baby-Daddy…
She Looks Like His Type Of Girl…
The song is pretty cool. First song of his that I listened to all the way through. Positive message that should catch the ear and the eye of some of these young-uns. But just like the youth that are influenced by this song others will be influenced by the other songs that have them shootin dem glocks, smokin dem blunts and chokin dem hos. I believe I heard Wayne say before that it wasn’t his responsibility to be a role model to the youth or influence them in any way. This song lets me know that he is fully aware of his persuasiveness and influence as an artist.
aww that actually made me cry
Like the song…..LOVE THIS VIDEO THOUGH! BEST VIDEO HE HAS DONE TO ME!
Wow! I really want to cry right now. This video speaks the TRUTH!! I love it.
DAMN..can wayne make a good song with a positive video with out yall bitchn,im not even a wayne fan like that, the last album that was dope to me was the carter, but i respect the fact that he made a good song, with a good video, the video is all about descions, just because you was born in a bad enviroment,or bad situation, dosent mean you have to continue that cycle, you can do anything you put your mind to,and change ya way of life, and this video shows the pros&cons to that
Hate the song, love the video. The message is really powerful and its perfect for his demographic (impressionable teens). I didnt expect this at all from Lil Wayne. Athough the end did kind of confuse me. I mean with all that positive influence she still ends up being a baby momma? Shouldn’t her husband had been in that room and not just her mom?
Shoulda coulda woulda’s… yea it would of been great to have your husband by your side. However it doesn’t take a genius to figure this video out. At the end of the day the girl had a strong support system from her mom, who refuse to let her fail. Stayed by her side and taught her how to love her self and respect her body. Make responsible decisions. Half way through the video it showed how her life could have ended up for her. Then it did a turn around for the good, which is a positive mess. The video complements the song well. Bravo to lil wayne!
I really like this song and the video has a great message overall. I see my boy Tristan Wilds made a cameo…niiiiiice.
Appreciate the video. A good reminder for females to protect themselves and theirs.
I am still (pleasantly) surprised that it is by Lil Wayne though. Ever since I heard this song, I’m so used to the same old disrespectful music that I catch myself wondering WHY he cares. When positive music comes out of left field like that it is even more refreshing. Last time I was shocked like this was maybe when…Ludacris did his bars on Runaway with Mary J. Blige.
I thought it was money over bitches though? It is nice to hear and see (from this video) that he gives a fuck about humanity.
I LOVED THIS SONG BUT THE VIDEO IS JUST SOOO GREAT I LOVE IT. i KEPT WAITING FOR THE VIDEO TO COME OUT AND ITS HERE. i LOVE IT. i’M A WAYNE FAN THIS IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT, BUT i LOVE IT.
MAN YALL GOT WAYNE SOO FCKD UP, wtf he do to yall if he can influence anybodi in the wrong way thts on tht dumb ass person and the dumb ass person who raised them. This man been doing his thing since he was 16 and every since then all you fcks can do is talk down on him, every album he made was made for a reason, and lyrically if u understood u would realize that he has very good music and that very good music has man him very damn rich u fckn haters! jst mad cause he didnt fall off like Britney spears and sht dont judge him the artist ur children listen to are all fckn dope fiends or alcoholic hoes even on disney channel fckn undercover whores and half of them want to be black or love black ppl and i gurantee u all of ur children will listen to his music and love it. FKCERS!
I love the song and the video!!
I love this video the concept is great, and in this day in age its certainly needed and lil wayne couldn’t have found a better actress big upps to chanta patton!!!! @chantapatton
