Mississippi MC David Banner drops quite a bit of knowledge (“It’s only right that I tell ‘em / don’t buy into everything these rappers is sellin’”) on his first release from his upcoming sixth album, titled The Make Believe Album.
With “Swag”, David Banner “[says] the shit they say [he] shouldn’t”, taking on those who disrespect God, white girls (namely the White Girl Mob) who use the N-word and other incidents that should infuriate the black community as we sit idly by. No word on a release date for The Make Believe Album, but you can purchase “Swag” on iTunes.
A slew of celebrities came out for the 33rd Annual United Negro College Fund’s Evening of Stars fundraising ceremony in Pasadena, California (August 14). The annual event celebrates current and future college students who have attended or with to pursue a bachelors degree at a historically black college. Erykah Badu, Musiq Soulchild and Jill Scott were among to hit the stage with a performance.
