Looks like somebody is ready to take her rightful place! R&B singer Brandy performed at the 2011 South African Sports Awards on Sunday evening (August 21) at Sun City, North West Province.
Ms. Norwood pulled a Fantasia and performed barefoot while singing a medley of songs like “Afrodisiac” and “Right Here (Departed)” from her Afrodisiac and Human albums. Gone ‘head, Brandy! Bout time!
As we told you on Monday, the star recently inked a new deal with Sony Music (LINK). Excited to see what she has in stores this go round.

Yep, that was live. I noticed it right away and she sounded good. The only complaint I have is that wig and that awful moo-moo thing she had on…oh and yeah, the performance was boring, too. She needs to learn how to dance or something. Her voice is still there though. Was the crowd even rockin with her?

The show had a flow to it, enough dancing to sustain the eye but not too much to seem like she was trying to hard. very well done. i enjoyed it. I forgot how essential she was to R&B. Rihanna said it best, her vocals are epic. I fucks wit you brandy.
it is boring, her uptempo performances do nothing for me, and her ballads almost go there, but still fall flat. I do not see no major comeback, unless she is just sitting on a stool like Adele singing heartfelt songs out.

She sounded amazing on the 2 live songs. The first was obviously lipped because of the dancing, I guess. She clearly has gained her confidence back after years of hardship and shit. I’m definitely rooting for her!
I live in South Africa and watched this performance LIVE on national TV. As you know, it will sound and look better than you seeing it through the lens of some cellphone recording the TV, ha, ha, ha!!
A few FACTS: She DID NOT lip sync!!! Brandy’s voice (as so many people on this thread recognise) never fails to shine. It is beautiful and natural with no added extra effects to make it sound like something it isn’t. There is a difference between a backing track and lip syncing. The former only serves to bring the background vocals into the music…NOT THE LEAD SINGING TOO. So please. Did you see any bakground singers up on that stage? NO. So case closed.
And yes all the people who say she killed it are spot on. Just to reiterate, SHE KILLED IT. The outfit was beautiful (sparkly and a breath of fresh air as it was not booty-revealing yet it was SEXY and allowed her room to dance freely) and prefectly suited to her uptempo performance (that’s what it was) and being barefoot as it was the first time I had actually seent Brandy attempt to incorporate discernible dance moves into her act and she nailed it…BAREFOOT AND ALL!!!!
I am really getting pissed off at the fact that people would go in on Bran Bran like this when she was pitch perfect (off-key? NEVER) and as one comment noted, her riffs and runs were effortless. Plus she rocked the choregraphy, simple as it was. She was in the groove and it shone through…there was just no denying it. Twitter timelines in South Africa were buzzing after that performance and a couple million people can’t be wrong.

Saying it was a great performance would be an understatement. She delivered vocally and as far as stage presence goes, Brandy owned it. I look forward to seeing more performances from her like this because the girl has clearly proven that she came a force in today’s industry as well.

I just saw the performance and she was sensational as always. I loved her take on African attire. She doesn’t need to be half naked like Beyounce and Ryhanna, she has it like that.
