VIDEO: DAVE CHAPPELLE SAYS FAME IS MUCH LIKE A DRUG ADDICTION

Comedian Dave Chappelle stopped by and talked about his recent stand-up show where he was booed off stage. The former Chapelle’s Show star talked about what really happened, his thoughts on artists and comedians today and how he still has no desire to return to television:

It’s addictive. Being a famous person and all that. It was an enjoyable part of my life. It was good when it was good, probably much like drugs. But then there’s parts of it you don’t want. Listen, a guy does drugs for how long of his life? A year? Two years? He could spend the next twenty years trying to get over a good drug to have. And show business is like that. TV was fun. Television was fun.

Well I’m sure a lot of us can agree that we miss his comedy show. Who has his seasons on DVD?

Okay can somebody tell me WTH is he saying. None of that made sense to me. Did the drugs have something to do with him getting booed. He sounds like he was talking in circles..maybe its just me.

      It’s just you. LOL
Just like Jay-Z says in the song, “Fallin” “The irony of selling drugs is sort of like i’m using them” Jay also breaks it down in “Hollywood”

Ask any drug addict, they will tell you, they spend all their time and money chasin that FIRST high. Dave is saying, it’s all good (fun) at first, but then comes the side affects. But you can’t stop because it “looks” good.

I gotcha INDIGO. Thanks for breaking it down, because I didn’t know what the hell he was trying to say.

    • FallBackHaters

I didn’t get what the heck he was saying either. Thanks for the breakdown

He’s so interesting. The way he talks reminds me of Jimi Hendrix. I have boxed sets of his DVDs I love him.

It takes some balls and a great sense of self to walk away from what some people will kill for. Great perspective and awesome to see that the fame drug doesn’t define his talent. He’s ok with being LIVING in Ohio, BEING who he is…on his own terms.

Most celebrities could all use a lesson from his book. Stop chasing material things to feed the ego. How many #1′s, millions, top this or that does it take for you to LIVE a good life?

That’s because he is real and intelligent. When all the hoopla was going on about him walking away from all that money. It was sad to read how blind alot of my people are… Now day’s, “The man” doesn’t have to kill us,we are killing ourselves, with greed and ignorance. They called him all types of names for standing for something and having ethics and integrity; the things A LOT of artist lack, just to say “I’m making money thought” People would rather big up Katt Williams, But at the end of the day, he didn’t own himself. I’m bringing up Katt Williams, because Katt didn’t know when to walk away. He was presented with the same thing as Dave. He let the “let the haters hate” drive him, when there is much more to it. Now look…

He is saying when you get on stage and is loved by the fans. You live for that like doing drugs. It get you blown up like a balloon. If you inflate you will feel the effect. You feel like you are on cloud nine but it doesn’t last forever. So he is being true to himself.

  6. Miss sexy lol dontforgetfullfigure

Fame is not for everybody and he made the right choice to walk away from that devil contract they was gonna trap him with…Having bill gates type money don’t mean happines especially if you didn’t start from bottom to top like he did……If fame was meant for everybody then tragedy wouldn’t be so high in hollywood….Look what happen to the taylor husband .
