Almost one year after her being rushed to the hospital for a medication overdose (LINK), singer Fantasia cleared all the rumors and speculations about her being pregnant.
Over the weekend, the 27 year-old gave a free concert to the inner-city youth and residents of the Riverview Apartments in Jacksonville, Florida. After speaking to the youth about making the right life decisions, Fantasia proudly announced her pregnancy:
You are the first person that I share this news with. And I share this with you because I can relate to you. For a while, I walked around figuring out, ‘what will they say? what will they think about me?’ But now I tell you I don’t live my life for folk, so this child that I carry…God has given me this child, and I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all.
There are a lot of people that will post some mean comments about this story. Fantasia is not the first woman to get caught up in being in love with a married man and having a baby with him; and she won’t be the last. This only proves that celebrities are human too and they do the same things that regular folks do.

I agree Brandon and I like this chick, but her situation could have been prevented. The damage is done with this dude A. Cook and his ex-wife and she is gone with the check from both of them, but I think it would have been in her best interest to wait and date hime openly for awhile and see wht happens. I’ve always liked Fantasia’s music & that’s the only thing I can judge her on. I can’t judge her by the decisions that she make in her personal life because I don’t know her personally or her whole story. I like Fantasia as a singer/performer; I do not know her to dislike her personally. I will say I do not like her choice in speaking to inner city children in the manner in which she did. I believe when talking to the youth we need to let them know, yes while we all make mistakes; we need to rise up and strive to do better. I do not think she should’ve came out and made THAT statement at THAT function. We need to lead by example when speaking to our youth, we are always saying “they have to do better”; but really we have to do better. For me when listening to a speaker, I like to listen to someone that has gone through what I have; and have overcame. While I don’t necessarily agree with Fantasia’s choices, I believe ppl should not place celebrities on these high pedestals or have such high expectations of them. We should not look to these celebrities to be role models for our youth as they may fail them. That positive role should start in the home.

Sometimes it takes many tries to correct your wrong doings and mistakes. We serve a God of chances…PERIOD, not just 2nd chances. In time Fantasia will get herself together…who knows, this could be what does it. If the Lord does not condemn, then why should we? Make sure you have swept off your own door before you try to sweep off someone else’s. Fantasia is more than a celebrity on display…she is HUMAN.
