Funnyman Kevin Hart is on the cover of Rolling Out‘s most recent issue. In an interview w/ the weekly publication, Hart talks about when he decided to take up comedy as a career, his new film, Laugh at My Pain and the realities of being a popular comedian, all while cracking a couple jokes in between:
On when it dawned on him to be a comedian:
I’ve always been silly and the life of the party. But I came into the reality when I was a sneaker salesman. My co-worker gave me the idea to go to a comedy club. My first time on stage, I wanted to s–t on myself. The lights were on me, people were staring at me and they wanted to laugh. It took a second for me to realize that I had to start talking. Once I got over the initial shell shock of being in front of the lights, it was easy. I eventually won six times in a row.
On the pressures of being a comedian:
A lot of those guys didn’t really lose their way. The industry and media has a way of flipping things and making it into what they want it to be. No one knows what’s really going on with Dave. No one really knows what’s going on with Katt. At the end of the day, they are two talented and funny dudes. Given the opportunity, they can continue to be funny. When it comes to pressure, you are your own judge. I don’t take the word pressure seriously. This is what I chose to do, so I don’t pay attention to pressure.
On when a man usually knows he’s in love:
That’s difficult, because it takes a guy a long time to get to that level. Some women can mistake consistency and companionship as love. But it’s not sometimes. Guys can like your company and be around you for a long time. And eventually, some guys may move on or get distracted. It’s human nature. But when men get to a certain age, they mature and realize what’s important in a woman. That age, for men, is about 56. You’re not in love until your 56. [Source]

you’re not in love until you’re 56? Did I read this right, or is part of his act? Everthing thing else he said was cool but you can’t put men in a box like that. Everybody, man, or woman is different.
I think it’s pretty obvious he’s joking.
Kevin speaks in rhetoric…
It is impossible to fall out of love. Love is such a powerful emotion, that once it envelops you it does not depart. True love is eternal. If you think that you were once in love, but fell out of it, then it wasn’t love you were in. There are no ‘exit’ signs in love, there is only an ‘on’ ramp. (( H_o_t_B_l_a_c_k_w_h_i_t_e. c_0_m )) Lots of my friends found their lovers through the se’rvice. You may have a try…
thanks for reading
He’s funny but I dont find hims SUPER funny…not hating but he’s just not that funny to me.
You’re right, he’s honestly not as funny as his hype. The thing about Kevin Hart tho is his delivery, it is so confident and so cohesive, you can’t help but love him. His story telling ability is also incredible. I love comedians like that. His movie ‘Laugh At My Pain’ had an incredible message behind it, and I really enjoyed it. I recommend it for anyone who has issues with letting their past go and how using laughter to get the best out of a sour situation. ‘Laugh At My Pain’ is much more than a title… Nonetheless Kevin is truly a gem and I see nothing but longevity in his career.
@ jiggamore i agree he is funny but a little overrated i think when ppl like katt williams, mike epps, bernie mac etc had their hey day they was alot better but kev is an ok substitute i guess

Interesting he mentioned Dave & Katt, the only two black comedians who were not seen at his Initiation event.
Out of all the many black coons (currently) who call themselves comedians, Dave Chappelle is the naturally talented one-amongst his peers.
Yes, I was going to comment on that. Katt Williams and Dave Chappelle are on the “outs” with the Boule. It seems that the order has been given to ostracize them and make them appear to be “crazy” in their stand-up routines, which is the only way that they currently have to make an income. Kevin Hart is fully aware of this and he has clearly sold out himself, looking at the all-black clothing and the “heart” symbol (which is not just a play on his name, for you simple negroes). The “heart” symbolizes sun worship. This dude is due for a sacrifice.
He is so thirsty & desperate, I would not be surprised. I had a couple of run ins with this dude back in Philly & he is def as shady as they come- a big b*tch.
i love kevin hart!! i love how his stand-up’s have great stories to them. i see many of you are saying he’s not that funny but i disagree totally. Dave wasn’t that funny to me-he always had funny moments but not as hilarious. kat was funny as hell though, but his stand-up’s can get ‘uncomfortable’ (guess that’s the right word) at times.
Kevin Hart is super funny and I love how he tells real stories about his family and friends. Sometimes, it’s like comedic therapy for him when he talks about tough subjects.
If you don’t think he’s funny why come to the board that has him on it.. He’s funny and has been. His comedy is different than daves and Katts who are equally funny.. I just think when you go thru things in life good or bad and you find the funny in them this is what makes life worth living
He is a funny dude. Good for him!
