Soul songstress Mary J. Blige is seen dressing elegantly in a cheetah-print dress on the cover of EBONY magazine’s October 2011 issue. The 40 year-old Queen of Hip-Hop Soul just so happened to have her shoot for this cover shortly after hearing news about the passing of Amy Whinehouse. In reflection and after realizing her own personal past with drug & alcohol abuse, Mary shared how in fact that could have very well been her:
“When I got the text about Amy, I was lying down on the bed,’’ says Blige. “I got up and read the message about her death and just lay back down again. I kept getting up and laying back down for some reason. I’d always wanted to work with Amy, so I just couldn’t believe it really. And then it hit me—that could have been me. That really could have been me!” [Source]

Oh dear we love women doing what they won’t, but doing it well. This is wrong on many levels. Last year there was a period when the classing of clothes and accessories were simply cool – well that was for those getting dressed in a rush or under 21. We are glad there are SO many better images of mary littered across the net. Wake up.

I like Mary but Im sick of her talking about her drug and alcohol past. YES, it was a MAJOR thing and thanks be to God that she got over it. However, when Mary made the No More Drama album, she kept saying that people didn’t want to see the “happy Mary”. They want the songs from Mary about sadness, depression, etc. She kept saying that she wants to move on from that and that her music will be more uplifting. By continuing to bring up your past, you’re not moving on. Let it go! It’s no longer you. We dont need to hear about it anymore.
