NEWS: R&B SINGER VESTA WILLIAMS HAS DIED AT 53

September 23rd, 2011

Vesta Williams, who scored a number of hits on the R&B charts in the mid-1980s and early 1990s, was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room on Thursday, Sept. 22. She was 53.

Perhaps best known for her Hot 100 single “Congratulations”, Vesta also had a recurring role on Sister Sister as Monica, Lisa’s best friend.

Details surrounding the singer’s death remain limited at this time, but Vesta performed at last weekend’s Autumn Jazz Explosion in Portsmouth, Va. Performance video of “Congratulations” is below.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

I just read this news and I couldn’t remember from where or how I knew of this name, but I was sure I’d heard it recently somewhere. The first and only time I came to know of her was just recently when I saw her on the Mo’Nique show. I had to stop and listen as I heard her because her voice was so genuine, and now thinking back, I recall thinking to myself that I can’t wait to see her gain more popularity because she is so talented. What a shock!

What are out talking about? The vast majority of overweight people do not die from yo-yo dieting.

..AND SINCE WHEN WAS VESTA A YO-YO DIETER?

Same goes for Gerald Levert – he died of prescription pills. It looks like the same may be true for Vesta. So stop making stuff up.

Although we cannot escape death if we accept the gift of life, why does it seem as though so many of us are entering into the final transition in these troubled times?

    Here’s my blog on Vesta…….R.I.P.
