POLITICS: PRESIDENT OBAMA’S LABOR DAY ADDRESS IN DETROIT

On Monday, during a speech at a Labor Day event in Detroit, President Barack Obama preluded his upcoming address to Congress with plans to “propose ways to put people to work (that) both parties can agree to“. With the unemployment rate for African Americans now at its worst since 1984, many are in need of some sort of resolution with the president at the head of the line, stating “We’re going to see if congressional Republicans will put country before politics.”

We’re going to see if we’ve got some straight shooters in Congress. We’re going to see if congressional Republicans will put country before party. We’ll give them a plan, and then we’ll say, do you want to create jobs? Then put our construction workers back to work rebuilding America. Do you want to help our companies succeed? Open up new markets for them to sell their products. You want — you say you’re the party of tax cuts? Well then, prove you’ll fight just as hard for tax cuts for middle-class families as you do for oil companies and the most affluent Americans. Show us what you got.

The time for Washington games is over. The time for action is now. No more manufactured crises. No more games. Now is not the time for the people you sent to Washington to worry about their jobs; now is the time for them to worry about your jobs.

President Obama will address a joint session of Congress on Thurs., Sept. 8 at 7 ET. View his Labor Day remarks in full above.

It’s the battle of the little black and white dress in this edition of ‘Who Rock’d It Better’. Popstar Rihanna and actress Taraji P. Henson were both spotted out wearing the same Camilla and Marc ‘Hillside’ asymmetrical stripe mini-dress.

Taraji wore hers first back in August to Russel Simmons’ 12th Annual Art for Life benefit gala in the Hamptons. She paired it with a red patent leather dress, and matching red heels.

More recently, Rihanna was seen arriving to a Hollywood studio on Friday taking a more casual styling approach with her look. She paired her dress with a black belt, and sneakers. TAKE YOUR PICK.
