While the nation may not agree on whether his dream has been realized, the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King lives on and is now forever immortalized with the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial, the first African-American memorial on or near the National Mall, which opened to the public last Monday and was to be dedicated with a weekend of ceremonial events, culminating on Sunday, which marked the 48th anniversary of his “I Have a Dream” speech, but was postponed indefinitely due to Hurricane Irene.

Here’s a new artist to watch! Meet John West. This up-and-coming artist dropped the official music video for his debut Christian Rich-produced single, “Lovely” with a hip-hop feature by G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T. The Mark Staubach-directed video also features model Nishi Munshi, who looks a lot like another video vixen, Rosa Acosta.
West started out as a weekend street performer at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. After independently selling over 35,000 units of his three EPs, West caught the attention of Mercury/Island Def Jam Records and signed with them. He has already opened for artists like B.o.B. and is working on his album with producers like Jerry Wonda & The Stereotypes. No word on what the name of his album will be.
