POLITICS/VIDEO: PRES. OBAMA PUSHES THE ‘AMERICAN JOBS ACT’ DURING BLACK CAUCUS EVENT

September 26th, 2011

President Barack Obama addresses the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Phoenix Awards this past weekend in Washington, D.C.

During his speech, the President stressed the importance of passing the American Jobs Act, to put more people back to work, and more money back in the pockets of people who are working, read a snippet below:

ON THE JOBS ACT:
We’ve got millions of unemployed Americans and young people looking for work but running out of options. So this jobs bill says, let’s give them a pathway, a new pathway back to work. Let’s extend unemployment insurance so that more than six million Americans don’t lose that lifeline. But let’s also encourage reforms that help the long-term unemployed keep their skills sharp and get a foot in the door. Let’s give summer jobs for low-income youth that don’t just give them their first paycheck but arm them with the skills they need for life.

MESSAGE TO THE BLACK CAUCUS:
With patient and firm determination, I am going to press on for jobs. I’m going to press on for equality. I’m going to press on for the sake of our children. I’m going to press on for the sake of all those families who are struggling right now. I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself. I don’t have time to complain. I am going to press on.

I expect all of you to march with me and press on. Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on. We’ve got work to do, CBC. [ READ MORE @ WHITEHOUSE.GOV]

      Why? He is basically saying Pull Yourself Up By Your Bootstraps… He is set to address the african american community via BET (because we all know that ALL black people watch BET of course). Maybe he’ll jump into his cheap Al Sharpton impersonation like the last time he addressed the AA community. He’ll drop his Hawaiian upbringing and Columbia and Harvard degrees to sound like a southern baptist preacher telling people to stop feeding their kids Popeyes chicken… #NOTHANKS!

      We do not need to be addressed separately in some condescending speech. People will cheer him on, clap and say “he’s the man” and “I love that man” anyway because unfortunately a lot of us pay no attention to the actual politics. Too busy being mesmerized by his charm and his beautiful black family… That got me the first time around too. NOT THIS TIME though. Obama has fooled us, he’s no different than any other politician spewing BS to get their agenda across. His Monsanto appointments, Military Spending, bailouts for wall street, using healthcare as a red herring. We still spend more of the budget on the military than anything else including education! SMH… Wake up people!

      I agree to a certain extent, he needs to speak to us as articulately as any other crowd. The main stream media is even talking about parts of his speech sounding as if he is dumbing down. I think he falls into the trap that many blacks still give off, that you are not “keeping it real” if you are black and speaking the english language correctly. Which is the problem I have with such oppressive stereotype enforcing blacks that I encounter on a on a regular basis. The ones that enforce the if you are not street, had a hard black life, whoa is me, rag on the head, raisin in the sun, ghetto acting and dressing, then you are not the bs “keeping it real” black. All black people arent ghetto, intentionally lazy with their speech, intentionally undereducated, etc. and those of us who arent need to overassert ourselves over blacks that try to enforce this black on black oppressive mess. I agree with his stop making excuses, stop whining, and basically looking for him to do it all, and get busy.

    Pres. Obama realized early on that yt would not immediately accept his “presidential power” should he try to use it. I think it was brilliant of him to attempt to work with the GOP who will NEVER agree to anything he proposes. He now has the people’s permission to aggressively push his programs and show that fire that we always knew was in him. He asserted his presidental power by stripping the “No Child Left Behind” legislation. Watch this Leo lion roar now-he WILL get his jobs bill passed and he WILL be re-elected in 2012. GO OBAMA!

      @MICHELLE

      “Zeitgeist” was actually created to help herd the sheep into the same enclosure by a separate means. It is part and parcel of a mechanism known as the Hegelian Dialectic. The same entity that finances the lies told in these churches and in the mainstream media make features like “Zeitgeist”, in order to present an alternative. It’s like someone having a dream within a dream. When someone watches “exposes” like “Zeitgeist” they believe that they’ve been awakened but they really haven’t.

    The heart of your writing while appearing agreeable at first, did not work very well with me personally after some time. Somewhere throughout the sentences you managed to make me a believer unfortunately just for a while. I however have got a problem with your leaps in assumptions and you might do nicely to fill in all those breaks. When you can accomplish that, I would certainly be impressed.
