One woman, Aevin Dugas has achieved Guinness Book record success with her natural hair and now holds the title for The World’s Largest Afro. Speaking from a male perspective, I think the sista looks EXTREMELY beautiful with her fro. More and more of us, now, are returning to our roots. And whether we realize it or not, it`s because subconsciously some of us are trying to reconnect with our native homeland and culture. Some of us are beginning to break away from the American standards of ‘SO-CALLED beauty. It reminds me of something that Brotha Malcolm X said in his autobiography. He talked about all the different colored wigs that sistas wore back in the day… purple, blue, green, blonde, etc. trying to look like the white woman. He also blast the brothas, including himself, for conking/straightening their hair to look like the white man. He stated how RIDICULOUS, he and they looked…something out of a slapstick comedy, willing to burn their scalp in order to buy into Americas` standard of beauty…just like today. It`s nice to see us slowly beginning to take off the mental shackles of slavery.

I’m natural as well and I live in New Orleans too-I hope to see her one day, but I don’t get how this is world largest afro? I have seen girls with WAY bigger fros and it’s all their hair…her fro is nice, but i’ve seen bigger.
