Call it what you want, but the reality of it is there’s strong market for these type of straight to DVD plays as well as movies. So in my opinion if the man is working then that’s a good thing. American Idol is like anything else that garners exposure. You must be able to keep your audience interested after the fact and maybe doing stage plays is his particular niche right now, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Are you serious?! I love stage plays but this is a no-no. Im glad they are both working but they aint working hard for my money. rueban aint even talking he just sings and he is the main character…. how are you a main character in a stage play and dont have stage presence? and golden talks low you cant even hear her…. clifton powell…. again…. this dude is in all the stage plays…. ALL of them! Clifton sniffs out stage plays… but he knows how to act though when he is in them, give clifton a main character part please he has been in 9 million plays already as a pastor… this is the dryiest play I have ever seen the trailer of…. I am not buying this one these play director need to tell these actors if you cant act like you do in the movies and shows youre out! because the same people who give award winning acting chops act like they aint never acted in their lives when it comes to plays
They shouldve put this out in the middle or late days of novemeber not the beginning no ones looking for a christmas movie yet… its too early
Im about to get off my soup box but im tired of these directors putting people together in movies and shows that are not compatible. For examples…. malcolm jamal Warner and Tracey Ellis Ross on BET show, essence atkins and terry crews on Are we there yet!….Golden and Rueban no it is not working! stop putting people together who cannot act together… you cannot fake the audience at all…we know fackness! this is the reasons shows arent lasting long because people looked forced while their acting with certain people….. Directors need to look at peoples past roles and friendships with people instead of looking at their looks…. looks come later I wanna see a performance….people who were good with each other were phylicia rashad and bill cosby, angela bassett and lawrence fishburne (they were in 3 movies together ) , hell they were so good acting together I use to think they was …. you know… it was believeable……Tichina Arnold and Terry Crews were great…. martin and ticha (they were in a couple of shows and movies together)was good too because they all knew each other… it wasnt “I look good you look good we should act together” thats looking dumb and the acting become unbelievable so ssssstttttooooopppp!
Waste of plastic……..its just going to sit on shelves collecting dust. Americans are sooooooo wasteful.
Looking forward to seeing this. Kudos to Alvin Moore and his production team. The singing in these type shows is what I like most. Although not deep, the plot and acting is at least entertaining. Those commenting about Ruben not speaking and other frivolous things, please chill. It is really not serious enough to spend time chomping on it. That is a trailer, not the entire show. As far as Ruben being ‘An American Idol” on a straight to DVD movie, the movie was made for DVD and to be shown on BET. Good for Ruben for doing different things. “Open Your Eyes” don’t worry, you’ll have Christmas music to listen to soon. You can occupy your time by counting the spins.
