Pastelle it’s not. Unlike Kanye West’s first attempt at high end fashion, his Dw by Kanye West has managed to capture the attention of fashion’s elite. Vogue Editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, actresses Lindsay Lohan and the Olsen Twins, top designer Alexander Wang, singer/dancer Ciara — they were all sitting front row during Kanye’s first womenswear collection presentation.
After a lot of talk and rumors, the world finally got a solid glimpse at Kanye West ‘fashion designer’ and now that the most anticipated show of fashion week is over, the reviews are in, and they’re mixed at best. As with all things Kanye, people are either loving his collection, or they completely hate it.
The collection was Kanye doing what he does best, going completely against the grain, and presenting a spring collection that consisted mostly of typically fall materials like leathers, furs, and heavy knit sweaters.
Standout looks included a relaxed fit three piece suit worn by Victoria’s Secret model Izabel Goulart. As if the ‘all white everything’ monochromatic color palette of the look wasn’t visually interesting enough, the suit’s dangerously low neckline was sure to grab a few eyeballs.
Another standout look was the closing ensemble worn by another Victoria’s Secret Angel, Chanel Iman. Her slouchy white pants paired with cream jacket and sweater featuring the same beaded detailing, was the perfect ‘luxury meets laid back’ look.

It would have been more interesting if it was a line for males! I mean c’mon! Wondering who designed these for him. Excepting for Chanel Iman’s dresses, I’m not really impressed, sorry Ye, I applaud the effort, I wanna see the male perspective. But thumbs up cause he dared high fashion, unlike Beyoncé & mom with the Dereon mess! With all the money in the world and fame, Tina & Bey could have produced a fresh, classy, high fashion line like this one! They should take notes about high fashion.

Oh and another thing I nocticed…Some of these looks Kanye has worn before…like for instance pic #2 with Chanel in the fur vest and leather pants with the gold studded belt…Kanye has worn a similar outfit when he performored at the Macy’s parade…I’m lovin all the clothes!
I did not love it….. I just didnt feel like this was anything NEW or anything amazing. But I totally think he should follow his heart if he wanted to design as well. There is no limit to life. Ciao CL xxxo

It’s just sad that he takes all the credit for a collection he’d certainly financed more than he’d created.. I’d like to see all the talented and experiment staff that he’s sharing ideas with. I actually would like to see he’s own sketches.. I tell you from experience that it’s totally impossible this men can call himself a designer… Money is power, you can always by a name, but the name isn’t the artist.

Ciara seriously could and should be a high-fashion model. With the right make-up and clothes, she has an effortless aesthetic that makes her seem perfect for print and/or runway exposure.

Can’t go wrong with a man that has a great sense of style for women! I personally like the line and the mix of hard with soft. It’s kind of adrogynous with the baggy pants and I love the peach dress and the shoes!
