Supermodel Naomi Campbell fades to blue and black on the No.5 Issue of the French/German publication, LURVE Magazine. On the dark cover, the fiery supermodel vet rocked a blue hoodie from Gareth Pugh’s Fall/Winter collection with a contrasting laced top. When asked about the less than usual look for Naomi, LURVE founder/editor Lyna Ahanda shared:
“In this shoot, we wanted Naomi to look like a modern day Mona Lisa. She’s not sporting the usual long locks that we are used to seeing her with. Our idea was to make her look very different – yet still with an iconic reference. As a black woman, it was such a big achievement to have one of the biggest top models alive on the cover of my magazine. Naomi is the essence of black beauty.” [Source]
In a recent interview with CNBC Meets, Naomi Campbell talked about her childhood, what it was like to work with Bob Marley on the set of his 1978 music video, “Is This Love” and why she decided to take a break from her career in 1999 and battle her demons & drug addiction
The challenge was to go back and face things that I hadn’t dealed with, which is scary for anyone to go and look in the mirror…And try and deal with them and leave that baggage there and move forward with clarity and in a fresh way. And it felt good! Because it doesn’t matter who you are or what you do. It does catch up to you. It could be overworking. It could be in any compacity or anything that’s compulsive.
