I would have been even more proud if she didnt have to play the “white woman”. Rarely you see white models or women putting on their heads afro wigs. But I’m still proud, she had two covers of Vogue the same year? This might be a first for a black singer! Congrats darling Riri! So we have Jennifer Hudson, Beyonc and Rihanna the only black female singers on Vogue US! Beyonc, Alicia Keys & Rihanna, the only ones who had spreads for Vogue Italia, Beyonc even got two! Both ladies are pretty different when it comes to their music style, personal style, hair, and, well just about everything. Also, for the ones who keep saying she has NO VOCAL TALENT, and that it’s all only makeup and style.. Well why has she had so many top 10 songs/albums? The billboard/itunes charts and radio airplay (and she plays like ALL DAY on the radio) can’t see makeup and sexy legs sooo.. yeah. It’s easy to be pretty and stylish (as SO many girls are these days), but it takes more than that. I think that’s her skin tone. I saw pictures of her, her father, her brother’s etc and they all have about the same skin tone; besides the fact that people DO change skin tone due to diets, weather temperature, etc. I also read that kids used to bully her in school and call her “white,” partially due to her STRONG Irish ancestry, like how some of you are doing in this thread. What I wonder is why photographers and videographers increasingly pick the most wretched, and dungeony settings to shoot black models and artists..Ciara is a great example of with the videos for “You Got Me”, “Gimme That”, “My Girl” wt Mindless Behavior etc to complement her so-called return to her ‘urban’ roots..
I feel such choices present the black race and color as being associated with places that are poverty striken, and misery, and the ghetto..which is a fallacy.

Actually, if you type the name Rihanna into Google images, all the pictures that pop up are just as light as the ones in Vogue, especially the one on the bottom row of page 4, second from left, entitled “Rihanna without makeup.” It seems like this IS her natural skin color.

The cover looks horrible. Rihanna is so ugly to me; she looks like a mixture of an ape and an alien. She has harsh features and the “sexy” look is played out. I don’t understand why anyone would want to look up to Marilyn Monroe’s drug addict, stank, ugly, wh–e a–! It’s so cliche and she was such a poor example of a woman in Hollywood. That tattoo makes the pic look trashy and it’s sad that they whiten Rihanna’s skin in magazines. Also, they photoshop her to the fullest! They make her look like she has no pores and like she’s perfectly toned, when her bikini pics prove she’s not and is bigger. This is her year to flop and I can’t wait until her career is in the slumps like Britney’s.
