Rayon McIntosh, who is now best known as the former McDonald’s employee that beat down two unruly customers with a metal rod [ VIEW VIDEO HERE ], appeared in a Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday (October 18) and argued self defense.
31 year-old McIntosh was seen on video hitting Denise Darbeau and her friend Rachel Edwards, (both 24), with a three-foot-long metal rod (usually used to clean the griddle) after they jumped the counter and went after him. The whole thing sparked after he questioned the validity of a fifty dollar bill they were using.
While in court, his lawyer, Theodore Herlich said this:
it’s very clear [the two women] were coming after my client, who had in effect retreated to the rear part [of the kitchen] and was not seeking a confrontation,” Herlich said, adding that his client didn’t know if the women were armed at the time [ READ MORE ]
Assistant District Attorney Jamie Mendoza partially agreed, but felt he went too far, since one of the “victims” now has a skull fracture and other serious injuries..
“Not only did she curse out the hardworking employees at the McDonald’s working the graveyard shift, but then she did go over the counter into an area which is prohibited to the public. The defendant could have handled the situation in a manner which did not lead him to repeatedly strike Ms. Darbeau and Ms. Edwards,” Mendoza added. SOURCE
According to reports, the Judge said there was probable cause to hold McIntosh and this gives prosecutors time to put together their felony case and present it to a grand jury. McIntosh and Edwards are due back in court in December, while Darbeau is expected next month.

The charges made against the dude should be lesser than what those girls did to him. They clearly slapped him first after trying to authenticate the $50 bill before accepting the transaction. Those girls knew that is the proper procedure when you pay for something in cash with a $20 bill or more. For them to act out of character by slapping him and then jumped across the counter to attack the guy, the dude have all rights to defend himself. It’s late at night when this happen and u don’t know what anybody could be trying to do at an opened restaurants.

He has the right as a human being to protect his life. The video clearly shows him trying to get away from the women and they went after him. He didn’t know if they had weapons on them or not so he reacted out of self defense. This is messed up that the court would even think of locking him up for this. I used to work at McDonalds, and some customers are rude, and honestly that is the procedure of checking counterfeit money, it’s to the point, we don’t take $50 and $100 bills because they come out with serious fakes now.
