It’s been over 3 months since Monica and Shannon Brown tied the knot and jumped the broom. In an exclusive interview with Essence.com, the couple shared a bit about their love for each other, how much Shannon’s mom adores Monica and whether she sees them ever embarking on a reality television show of their own:
Monica is a ‘traditional wife’:
I cook for him. He can cook, but I don’t think he should have to. 
I’m a traditional wife in every since. I like the fact that he cleans his plate. That’s a southern thing. I’m from Georgia. When we grew up, our uncles finished off your plate and theirs, you know. I love the fact that he likes to talk to me while I cook. It’s not like I have these lonely hours where I’m in the kitchen. We talk while I’m cooking and he’ll ask for things a particular way. He’s a big fan of garlic and different seasonings so I had to learn to use the ones that he likes. I like it because it’s just another chance for us to communicate and to talk about what’s happened in our day. We talk about what practice was like or what my day was like.
On how they keep things passionate:
That’s so easy for us, I don’t know where to start. The best lingerie I have, Vanessa Bryant gave it to me. She is the biggest fan of La Perla and she goes into those stores a lot. Every time I would open one of her gifts, Shannon was like “yeah” and he’d start clapping for that gift. Sometimes he likes when I’m just in his t-shirt or his jersey. Continue
Rapper Nas dropped the visuals for his Life is Good-single, “Nasty”. The Jason Goldwatch-directed video features the artist riding in a Rolls Royce through the New York City streets, from the dark night till the light of day.
Once the daylight hits, the Queens-native ends up in Long Island City where he’s greeted by a group of excited kids. One youngin’ gets the ring off his finger and an older man in a wheelchair gets blessed with a wad of money. Dope!

Fantasia Barrino called into the The Wendy Williams Show this morning to clear up the rumors about Mahalia Jackson’s estate no longer wanting her to play the legendary gospel singer because of her being pregnant by a married man. The 27-year-old bed-rest mother-to-be informed Wendy that no official contracts were signed and that she almost went into labor when she heard the rumor:
I haven’t heard anything from the producers. They called us back in January and said the investors had backed out. so they were waiting on investors you know to find investors to kind of put money into the movie. I was a little disappointed when they called and said that. But I still listened to a lot of her music and still gaining the weight because I was believing that God was going to bring it back around and were going to be able to do this movie, because a lot of people need to know about this great woman. And we never heard anything from them.
After Barrino explained the situation with the biopic, Wendy went in and asked the singer if she’s still seeing Antwaun Cook, even though he’s still married…Fantasia laughed it off and eventually dodged the question altogether saying, “I’m really not focusing on that today” and that she’ll come and answer Wendy’s question after the baby is born. With the premiere of their first episode just around the corner, BET and the cast of it’s newest television seriesReed Between the Lines held a private pre-screening of the show’s premiere episode. Malcolm Jamal-Warner, Tracee Ellis Ross, BET’s Debra Lee & Stephen Hill as well as the entire crew invited the media and select outlets to the Bar Basque in New York City for a private VIP screening.
Kanye West made a random guest appearance and came to support the network’s show and actors.
In a recent interview, Tracee Ellis Ross admitted when she knew that her cast mate, Malcolm Jamal-Warner was a great choice:
It was sort of that magical piece of the puzzle that you could not pay for. We do have great chemistry and it was organic and authentic. From the first moment when I was in that screen test with Malcolm I could already feel the potential of what the show could be. For the first time I got a taste of who Carla was and so it’s been a good choice. [Source]
