Earlier this year, we shared the story of 9-year-old Anaiah Rucker who suffered life-threatening injuries pushing her 5-year-old sister, Camry, out of the path of an oncoming truck (READ HERE). The Rucker Family was featured on Sunday’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and was given a new home made more accessible for Anaiah, which includes a water park in the backyard that even Anaiah can visit in her waterproof wheelchair, as well as a basketball net.
NBA superstar Dwight Howard was on hand for the build and said he was so inspired by the family that his foundation would donate $50,000 for their needs. You can check out a tour of the Rucker Family’s new home below, and view the full episode online.

God is soooo good!
This is absolutely amazing. I didnt know Xzibit was on Extreme Home Makeover? I’m very happy that he’s come along way. Excellent way to give back! Thanks for posting ConcreteLoop!
This is so amazing. That girl is so brave. I just hope the family can afford the taxes for the house. Many ppl from this show have lost their houses cuz they couldnt affrd the taxes.
I don’t remember this story but this story has really lighten up my day! So Amazing!
awwwwwwwhh
aww am sooo happy that something so nice like this could be done for her coz she is a lovely girl i remeber the story and she is just a lovely brave person i pray that god will keep on blessing her … what she done for her sister words cant explan on how brave she is tbh .x
VERY deserving! She showed real love for her sister. A real life hero. Hopefully, their bond is even closer now.
I remeber this story too and I had tears in my eyes watching this the other night. Such a sweet family.
This is beautiful. And the best story of the month. Different than reading about the celebrities day and night.
By the way, what happened to the “Black History” posting you guys used to do outside of Black History month? What happened to the unspoken heroes you guys used to post? What happened to charities some celebrities are involved in besides…Beyonce, JayZ, Kanye, you know the usual. Is this now the Knowles/Carter/West/Rihanna Loop?
Come on, Concreteloop you guys used to be so dope!
I watched this episode and it was one of the best I’ve seen. That young lady was so brave, and just lovely she even joked that the leg she lost was her best kicking leg when she played kick ball. Such an amazing attitude about everything. The man that hit her was even on the show, he apologized & the mom said she forgave him & didn’t blame him, it was something that happened. That’s what brought me to tears.
That is what moved me to tears also. He was truly sorry and you can tell the Mom really did forgive him.
It’s great to see little kids showing acts of compassion, love and selflessness
maaann…you guys just had to post this AMAZING AND INSPIRING STORY!! *water works won’t shut off*
THANKS J DAKAR FOR POSTING THIS ONE…. I have a connection to this one… I watched and was so very touching!! Thank you CL! This story showed so very many sides….. Brave, Forgiving, Love ….. I could go on and on…. REAL TALK!!
Awww, I remember her story and was really touched that she saved her sister.
I do have to make an observation though. When I first caught an episode of extreme home makeover, years ago, the first thought that went through my head was “how are these families going to afford to upkeep such a large house”. I then dug a little deeper and found that majority of the people who have been through this program are now facing foreclosures. Simply because the mortgage payment, cost of utilities, taxes and basic upkeep of the lavish estates they build proves to be too much for the families to handle.
While I do feel this family deserves every bit of the rewards coming their way, the show should have realistically went through the families income and built a house they could afford to live in for YEARS to come. I hope when all the hoopla calms down and the reporters have gone away this family won’t go through what many families have gone through with extreme home makeover.
OMG I can see how that happens, but in this situation it should not. That is where other celebs or athletes can follow Dwight Howard example. 50cent and Floyd Mayweather instead of burning money here is something you can do that is useful.
Heya i?m for the primary time here. I came across this board and I find It really helpful & it helped me out much. I hope to present one thing again and aid others such as you helped me.
