decentThe show was decent minus. a few wack sets. Who in the world gave Tamar, or whoever that forgotten Braxton is, permission to tribute Gladys? REALLY?! I’m puzzled on that. Ceelo is a great performer, but those outfits have to stop. Melanie Fiona was bangin,’ the label needs to stop sleeping on her new album. Common and Marsha were great, but Marsha didn’t sound that hot on her Gladys tribute. And the Earth Wind n Fire set was almost forgettable, and what’s funny is that they built the whole show on them, and the tribute performers couldm’t deliver.

ITS NOT JUST THE CEE-LO OUTFITS, ITS HIS TOTAL DEMEANOR. HE COMES OFF AS A BIG OLE QUEEN AND I WILL NOT BE SHOCKED IF IN 20 YRS HE COMES OUT OF THE CLOSET. LOL!!!……..JENNY JONES!!!

  2. OVERYOURHEADS

#1. I like her but Tamar was too into herself (as usual) to give a proper tribute to the dynamic Gladys night ( i bet BET and not CENTRIC were behind having Tamar booked for the show – Marsha, Nathalie, and ultimately Gladys herself, had to come in and save the Tribute Day! #2. Absolutely love the song but too much Cee-lo chest hair for me, Son! (Also, was VERY PISSED the song was cut off! That is the Jam! Someone/thing else could have been cut instead of this performance (like Tamar, or presenter). #3 Like Common but did not need him to be one of the first musical acts on a show that was suppose to be emphasizing SOUL!!!!! INITIALLY, I WAS VERY SALTY ABOUT THIS (nonetheless, i did like the song) #4 Appreciated the Heavy D Tribute but wish Pete Rock could have made it and SET IT OFF!!!!! #5 I see you coming Anthony Hamilton… #6 I AM TEAM CENTRIC versus BET! (All the way)

  3. Keeper

These awards were…BORING! Mel did her thing I must say, I am a Marsha fan but she was off all night, and Miguel why??? I also enjoyed the performance by Joe, Eric and Robin overall the awards were as expected of BET and Centric

  4. OVERYOURHEADS

Also, I would be remiss not to mention Miguel’s Performance. I have to admit as a person who formally didn’t think much about him…DUDE IS DOPE!

  5. vee1

The tributes were all terrible. Gladys was giving Tamar the side eye, her hubby probably had something to do with that mess. She will never be as famous as she wants to be because she is not humble enough. She thinks she is entitled because her husband is a producer. Loved Cee-Lo and Melanie Fiona, but his fit and no shoes was a bit much. It was good to see the Goodie Mob on stage together. I gave the Heavy D tribute a pass since his death was so recent.I liked the song Robyn Thicke performed though, and something was off with Marsha’s dresses. I give the show a c-.

  6. Estyle

#Epicfail on all accounts. The production team needs to be fired. The show was marketed well; HOWEVER, the line-up of artists was the worst! Tamar is a hotmess.com. Felt like it was a mixture of Beyonce (Hair and dance or lack thereof), Nikki (attire) and LaToya Jackson (plastic surgery). Miguel in his tribute to EW&F, walked on, hummed two bars, and walked off. Gladys tribute was horrible with the exception of Natalie Cole. I know Chrisette can SANG, but she did nothing for that song she whispered. Chile Bye! How is it, there is a tribute to Heavy D, but nothing for Nick Ashford, really?! I think both were deserving. Other than that, the rest of the show wasn’t worth mentioning. Wait, I take that back, Ceelo and Mel were actually good – #THEEND#

  7. Tonnie Young

I agree 100% Tamar needs to stay as a BACK GROUND SINGER. She is not Toni and will never be Toni. Her voice is not strong at all. I love Gladys and she certanily did an unjust. I felt that was the weekest Award show we have ever had. Tamar drop the self center attitude and you might become something someday!. Like Vince said why can’t you just be happy at being his wife. That is the perfect roll for you…….

    • What?

The way your over hear tailing Tamar what two dew, yet yew cant even spell. 1. “Background” is ONE word. 2.You used “unjust”…when you probably meant “injustice” 3. The word is “weakest”…not “weekest” boo. 4. it’s “self centerED” and “ed” at the end. Finally, you meant “role”…not “roll”. So yeah, “ROLL” out boo. P.S. Im not a fan of Tamar either…but your usage of the english language tho…

@What… Sit your ass down. And shut the Fyck up! All that for what?

  8. LEW from Philly

I didn’t think I was going to enjoy the STMA, but I actually enjoyed it enough to miss my Boardwalk Empire/Walking Dead series. 2 of my wifes favorites (Anthony Hamilton and Miguel) did well IMO. I really dug Anthony Hamilton’s performance…enough for me to pre-order the album. Ceelo’s performance was FIRE. Other standout for me was to see my friend Bootsy up there doing his thing!!!! Ms. Knight looked awesome, and I was very happy or her. She is so classy!!! Also, someone posted (uptop) that Heavy D gets a tribute and none for Nick Ashford……REALLY? That was some BS. Ashford did so much for music, he certainly was deserving of more than just a “mention”. I have met him before (and Ms. Simpson) and both were extremely nice and down to earth.

  9. LolaChi

Where’s the EWF tribute? Eric Benet killed it.

    • OVERYOURHEADS

No she did not. Average at best. Too excited to get attention. Not focused.

    • Iamme

Akasha’s real name must be Tamar Braxton, cause that’s the only person that could think that was a good performance. Fuc outta here wit that mess..bad enough we got one Beyonce, we don’t need 2!

    • b-eazy

I don’t think her voice was bad, I think she was just too involved in herself to really understand that it was a tribute to Gladys and not herself. LOL! All mics were pretty horrible that night. The music was much louder than the mics, which drowned most of the artist out.

  10. Ms La

The show was a HAM! Tamar did nothing for the tribute to OUR Gladys. Everytime BET does a tribute to her it is horrible. Chrisette has perfected a sound of Natalie Cole not Gladys. Marsha Ambrosha needs to stop tributing until she can understand you don’t butcher legends. What happened to Faith, Fantasia, Tamia, Ledisi, Jill, and Kelly Price; these are pros in the game. BET you gotta do better. Stop being cheap! These legends deserve it!

  11. CHEERS

I’m sorry but Tamar looked like a knock-off Beyonce. She could sing of course but she should brand her look differently, just to stand out of course.

  12. TRP

Cee-Lo & Melanie Fiona killed it, Melanie surprised the hell out of me! Tamar sounds like a Toni Braxton impersonator from a comedy club. #THATAINTHOT

  13. dll32

The crowd is bascially dead during Miguel’s and Thicke’s performance…#sad

  14. thickems

When I heard the “Im a fool for you” a few times never hearing the artist’s name I thought Cee Lo was singing with Keyshia Coles and not Melanie.

The show was just OK – nothing more nothing less.

  15. TONIA

THE SHOW WAS BLAH I LOVE ME SOME GLADYS AND THE ARTIST THAT THEY CHOSE TO TRIBUTE HER WERE AWFULLLL THAT MARSHA AMBROSIA CHICK SOUNDS LIKE A WOUNDED CAT JUST CAN’T TAKE HER VOICE. CHRISETTE DID OK. TAMAR NOOOOOOO.COM.
CEELO AND MELONI AS WELL AS LLOYD WERE THE BEST ACTS OF THE NIGHT.
I AGREE WITH LEW FROM PHILLY THEY COULD HAVE DID A TRIBUTE TO ASHFORD.
    CEDRIC GETS A C-…….

PLEASE DO BETTER NEXT YEAR IF IT RETURNSSSS.

  16. Nydiva4u

This show was a waste of money. Tamar sucked.com and was definately trying to get her 5 minutes of fame. Did all the real singers boycott this show??? Apologizing to Gladys for the terrible tribute. Everytime Marsha performs live, she sounds off. Let me find out she a studo baby!!!! Cee-Lo winning over Trey, Kelz, and Miguel, get the f out of here with that bullcrap.

  17. Indigo

I don’t watch any Award show…Especially any on BET. They are not special, because everyone and their momma has an award show.

  18. b-eazy

I’m sorry, was I the only one who didn’t understand what in the world Cee Lo was saying in the first verse of the song. He sounded like he had a mouth full of marbles!!!!

  19. moonfromsoufcack

the show was aight at best, Common’s new jawn is soooo dope and his album will be a BANGER, i love that song…Cee-Lo and Melanie DID that but I agree with an earlier post, I know he would cover it up with some lame excuse about him expressing himself artistically but I wonder what T-Mo and Big Gipp’nem got so say about Cee-Lo’s borderline fag expressions! And one more thing….how come NOBODY is talking about that song that Gladys performed with Bebe Winans!!!!! the shit literally made my heartbeat THUMP! I frickin’ loved it! That’s gonna be thee official wedding anthem for 2012…MARK MY WORDS!!!!
