Just after a tour with the group Dirty Money, Kalenna is ready to stake her own claim as a solo artist. Stepping forward from her counterparts, Diddy and Dawn Richard, Kalenna gives a taste of what’s to come on her debut solo album, with her first club single, “Go To Work,” produced FirstBorn.
Kalenna chose today, 11/11/11 to give the world the first peek of her as a solo artist. The viral clip, directed by RebelStar Media, is an edgy, in-your-face visual that showcases her signature sound, as well as her unique style. Completely agree. It is a song made for people from a very specific background with a specific life experience and mentality who are not emotionally mature adults (regardless of their age). Very juvenile subject matter. SImply stated, it’s a song for ghetto chicken heads. This Kalenna obviously is aiming to be a *very* niche artist. Vulgar and empty subject matter, every other word a curse word. I could definitely see the readers of world star hip hop liking this though.

YOu cant ignore haters all the time because haters do more than just sit and hate, despite your best efforts to ignore them. They engage in jealous character assasination, jealous projection, jealous offense sharing, sneaky tactics with the hate. They can persuade an entire crowd of folk to hate you when they dont know you, especially black women haters. Folk hate on what you buy for your kids until they get it. Half black men dead because of hating/jealousy…people get robbed and carjacked because of someone jealous over what they have and want it for thermselves but dont want to work for it…all these robberies are not because folk are poor…half the time they just want a flat screen and know where to get it..your house when you got to work. Some try to act like they all humble because they dress down and plain jane and that you are not because you dress up. When the only difference is frequency– they dress up on Sunday when they try to act Holy and you dress up during the week. When they hit the lottery or get their tax refund check they run out and buy up exactly what they were hating on you about. You do have to confront and call out the hate sometimes and she did that in her way which was in your face, just like hating is in your face, brass and ghetto. Everything isnt ghetto when a certain ratchedness gets called to task. Thats how people change sometimes. Ooooh, I like this!!! Nice little taste of what we can expect, nothing major. She may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I think this is a beast of a track and I just kept smiling the whole time listening! She went IN! And it’s so true, too. Everything she said someone can relate to. I really am not feeling this single. I think the beat sucks. It’s one of those beats that try to be so different and still have a club banger type vibe, but just doesn’t work. The lyrics are a mess. I am all for telling people off in your lyrics, but they could have been written better. I do think that she is ugly and unfortunate looking, but her looks should not matter, unless she’s going to keep on selling her ass. She has an amazing shape… her body is thick, but nice and toned, and she has nice skin on her body, but her face is tore up. Because of that, she shouldn’t be wearing crazy blonde hair styles. The pictures are very nice though. They have an awkward, modern, European feel to them.
